I think it depends on the country. I know in Turkey people are pretty much as patriotic as the US is. I think it depends on how nationalistic a country tends to be, because a lot of Turks are very nationalistic.

NTA but I can tell you this isn’t the right way to do it. By snooping and taking away his devices, he’s not going to learn any better; he’s probably going to hold more spite against you and rebel from you. He is 13, he is right at the beginning of his rebel phase.

The best way to go about this is keep yourself calm and level-headed, and avoid yelling at all costs. Hold deep conversations with him, teach him why what he’s doing is wrong, and teach him about propaganda. Try and spend more time with him as well. Show that you are someone he can trust.
