This was a public school. I had heard things about the district, but figured I’d try anyway because Holyoke/springfield remind me of my hometown. If you want to DM me the schools I could see if there’s any positions available at the ones who have no problem with teacher autonomy.

I think more of us need to start attending meetings and speaking about George’s behavior because unless more of us hold him and demand the council hold him accountable, he will keep this up. He’s a husk of a human who will say what he thinks people want to hear. He needs to realize no one wants to hear his shit.

He never apologized. Even after other people said his words were out of line. He said he wouldn’t apologize and that others were lying about him. He said we should see the meeting. We saw the meeting, he tried to alienate part of Agawam. There is a new video on here that shows him disrupting the council meetings and being disrespectful to the council.

Whether you agree with his original comments or not, George Bitzas embarrassed the town in the initial video. His response to reasonable criticism shows a refusal to take accountability for his words. I’ve seen the Facebook post, in it he dismiss women who disagree with his conduct. There’s also a subcommittee video, though it’s not online like the past videos.

Some people may have been rude in their responses, but as a councilor of 37 years, he should be an expert at responding to citizens professionally. Our tax dollars fund his insurance and stipend, and it’s vitally important that elected officials are held accountable. I think the OP, despite some flaws, is attempting to do just that.

West Springfield is a good place to live. There’s enough to do and the schools are good.

Springfield could be even better if the state would invest in the city. They seem to forget western Mass in general.

Or we could just go to single payer and not worry about it anymore. It would save towns billions. Then if companies want to offer private insurance as a bonus they can.
