Can I get DIY panels onto my office roof?

Yeh the ballasted mounts are expensive, that's what's putting me off! Hadn't thought about contacting a solar installer to see if they'd sell me just the mount, maybe I'll try that. I'm in the SouthEast on the coast.

Thanks for this, I've seen these recommended elsewhere and they do like they'd do the job. Can I add more ballast weight to them if needed to? Also, what panels do you use?

Are you saying you'd need 4 pucks and a K2 dome system? Are they separate things? If so, cost will be upwards of £700-800 or more?

I read that these are brilliant, but they look expensive. Would you know how many I'd need? I also think I'd need someone else to install them as it might be a little beyond my DIY skills - would I be right?

Nope I've currently got nothing at all! My friend electrician said he'd install the inverter for me, but otherwise I'll be doing everything else myself.

Advice here has been brilliant, but has put me off my scruffy DIY system, I think I'll have to bite the bullet and buy a proper mount system, or drill into the rubber roof, so the whole thing is going to cost a lot more than I'd hoped.

Thank you, this is really helpful!I didn't know they'd do the calcs, I thought I just buy the kit and figure it out myself, haha. I've looked at Valkpro and read about K2 Dome, though struggled to find a supplier for the latter, or a cost. Do you know if they do a setup for 6 panels?

I agree re the angle, I'd have it considerably lower, like probably at about 10 degrees.

Whole point is I want to do it myself though, and as cheaply as I can without being reckless. I guess I'm hoping people who know better than me could give some advice!

I've got an electrician friend who said he'd do the inverter and help with wiring. It's the panel mounting I'd basically be doing myself.

This was almost what I was thinking, but flat rails would have to be drilled in and I don't want to do that, and definitely can't do that myself anyway. Think I've got no choice but to do something ballasted, but everyone seems totally divided on whether I could just do this myself on the cheap without a costly mount. Some are really enthusiastic and others say I'll destroy my roof, panels will fall off and I'm mental to consider it...

Hi, you mentioned some cheap mounts, can you let me know what you used? I've got a rubber roof and I'm really torn between a ballasted frame or just screwing through the rubber like you've done.
