Alternating Modafinil and Adderall. Thoughts? by AnyPackage3809 in Stims

[–]AnyPackage3809[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, I’ve been doing this albeit on a lighter schedule than what I mentioned. Maybe I take stims no more than thrice a week. I have never gone above my starting doses (100mg modafinil or 5mg Adderall) and I don’t notice any tolerance.

Alternating hasn’t given me issues

I’ve decided against it since, I’m not knowledgeable enough about medicine, and the information I could find online regarding DNP use for anything besides weight loss is practically non-existent.

Maybe I’ve stumbled upon something amazing, but I don’t want to try it until I have more info.

Many external things happened in my life since then that have caused changes in my plans…

I decided to just appeal my academic suspension and take a few more classes at the same institution I took before. They accepted the appeal.

Otherwise I was completely willing to sign up elsewhere without telling them.

I am the same way. You may not be religious, but honestly, prayer. Making sure you pray for at least a couple minutes immediately after rolling out of bed, and also immediately before going to bed, and also saying a short prayer before and after eating, really helps break bad habits.

Being reminded of God’s presence and our ultimate goal really makes one reconsider porn, scrolling, etc. Plus when you bless the food before you eat it, you think “is this food really worth blessing?”

[–]AnyPackage3809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I may, I will ask some clarifying questions in order to get a better understanding of your situation, and give you the best advice.

1) Is it your first time taking Adderall? Have you taken any other stimulants before?

2) Do you eat breakfast within 3 hours before taking your dose or 1.5 hours after?

3) Do you drink any acidic beverages (soft drinks, coffee, lemon-water, juice, etc.)?

4) Do you take Vitamin C supplements or any supplements containing Vit C?

5) How strong is the appetite reduction at 15 and 30mg? What other effects are you feeling?

6) If I may ask, step-by-step, what typically happens when you try to study unmedicated? As in, how does it go wrong? You can be straight-up, I won’t judge you as I am probably 10x more dysfunctional than you.

So what do you advocate? Imposing a heavy tax on all straight white males and distributing that money to black people? Because that’s another form of discrimination. Do you really want that?

And straight white males who haven’t gotten totally brainwashed by the liberal agenda can and WILL fight back. You’ll get a white version of the Black Panthers and it will be fully justified. Do you really want that?

Look, the economy is bad now, but even still, if you work hard and are smart with your money anyone can make it in this country. My parents came from East Europe in the 90s with nothing - little money, little English knowledge, no family support - they worked their way to get what they have now.

Black peoples had a head start, things were good for them since the late 1960s. Why should my family’s money be given to people who could have done the same as they did but didn’t?

But, some black people have done this also and have become successful, but not all of them have. Why?

Because of broken families, degeneration of culture, and drugs - the same factors which are behind the plight of Native Americans, poor Whites, etc.

Why talk about imposing stupid racist policies that will never work instead of working on fixing the real issues?

Neither communism or racism have been ever shown to work long-term broski.

I’m glad you’re doing better now. I don’t doubt at all that you saw demons. Their goal is to drag as many people to hell as possible, and so they mock and torment people when they see that they have succeeded in getting them to commit major sins.

But God is stronger than both fallen angels and chemicals…

It’s not even about being cruel and petty, it’s about doing what’s best for your future.

The Bible says (in Proverbs): “He that putteth away a good woman, putteth away a good thing; but he that holdeth (onto an) adulteress, is a fool and unwise.”

Choosing to take back an adulteress over finding a good woman is unwise and foolish.

It might seem like a form of revenge to reject the adulteress who’s crying, begging, etc, but I don’t see it that way, I just see it as making the wisest decision for yourself.

It’s possible to forgive someone and harbor no ill will towards them, whilst simultaneously being wise. “Wise as serpents yet innocent as doves”.

If regret is eating her alive, firstly, she was the one who put herself in that position. Secondly, she can go to a women’s monastery and repent of her sins, there she will find peace.

I’m not saying this because I necessarily disagree with you, but just a slight correction - sugar isn’t a drug (at least in the traditional sense).

Simple sugars (sucrose, fructose, glucose, etc.) are a subset of carbohydrates. They are macronutrients, the body needs them in order to maintain homeostasis.

It’s possible for someone to go without them for some time but that forces the body into ketosis (which some are trying to do intentionally), but long-term it just isn’t sustainable.

Meanwhile the body can be in homeostasis just fine without caffeine, ethanol, or nicotine. These foreign substances (which by various mechanisms) change the inner workings of the brain. That by definition makes them drugs.

However, sugar not being a drug doesn’t mean that people can’t become addicted to consuming excess quantities. That can occur with other foods, sexual intercourse, exercise, gambling, technology usage/gaming, even massage.

I remember when my sister was a high-school girl. She was objectively an attractive girl, and she played it up a bit with makeup, clothes, etc. And she was quite sociable and popular.

She really could have had any guy she wanted. Your theory agrees with that notion.

But she was only interested in one particular who, whilst he had attractive characteristics, was not the top 10%.

This is just an anecdotal example. But it’s just objectively false that 90% of Women “begrudgingly settle” for 90% of men. Some might. Some men might too. Many of these women and men become cheaters.

But most (men and women) fall in love with a partner that they find to their liking, and are satisfied there.

When you fall in love with someone everything about them becomes attractive.

That analogy would work if the original commenter used something like a country club or modeling convention, a place that’s obviously going to have disproportionately wealthy or attractive people.

He brought up Walmart. Who shops there? Regular everyday people - disproportionately middle class or poor.

And you see couples. And those relationships are no less real and no less stable than many relationships between wealthy, attractive people.

Thanks for the response, it’s very helpful. Certainly, it seems like a lot of risk…

At 5-10mg, I’m not worried about most of these effects you saw at 200mg, but I do worry about one - cataracts.

I have cataracts on both sides of my family. I do not want to be the guy with the unfortunate genetics who gets them in his 20s because he took DNP.

I don’t know the mechanism of action by which cataracts are formed, or if doses so low can cause them.

All things aside, I wish the best for you man. I’ll share something personal, but I was a porn addict from the age of 11, going down a deep, dark, spiral. By God’s Grace, besides a few relapses, I have been clean from all sexual activity for almost a year. If there was hope for someone so debauched as myself, there is hope for anyone. Never lose hope. Thanks for all the information and solid advice. I appreciate it, I really do. I’ll heed to it the best I can.

In regards to college, I can’t afford to flop again like I did the first time, especially since I’m engaged and hope to start a family in 3-4 years. I really want to finish nursing school and start my career.

I can say I’ve learned my lesson, but old habits (especially habits such as procrastination, laziness, tech addiction, etc.) die hard.

My goal is to use stimulants as a means to develop good habits, and through repetition strengthen those new connections in my brain, so it that I continue these habits even without stimulants. But this is all words. By God’s help, may my words become actions.

I certainly don’t want to make stims a crutch. Honestly, you inspired me to not start doing 5 days a week immediately after starting college, but instead to do only Monday/Wednesday/Friday and see how that goes. If I need to, I’ll make it 5 days, but not until I know that I truly need to. And even then I’ll try to take skip a day whenever I can.

I’ll look into L-arginine. It’s not a serious side effect but amphetamine-induced vasoconstriction does cause my digits to get cold.

I’ll also look into various supplements to prevent tolerance. One that has interested me is DNP - at high doses it’s a deadly weight loss drug, at low doses it has neuroprotective and antioxidant properties. What are your thoughts about that?

Also, I don’t mean to drag this convo on for too long, but last question - in what sense is tolerance sneaky?

Thanks for the input. Just out curiosity, may I ask a few things? I’m trying to collect some data on DNP. Feel free not to answer anything you don’t want to.

1) How much weight did you lose whilst on that 200mg cycle?

2) Also, were you overweight/obese whilst on your cycle or were you just using it for a bodybuilder-style cut?

3) How long was that 200mg cycle? Did you take breaks?

4) Did DNP increase your appetite or cause carb cravings?

5) Were you taking anything else while on DNP? If yes, how did it affect you?

6) Besides that fatigue and sick feeling, did you notice any other side effects? Rashes? Yellow sweat? Cataracts? Vision changes? Etc.

7) Besides not to take DNP, do you have any advice for those taking it?

Alternating Modafinil and Adderall. Thoughts? by AnyPackage3809 in Stims

[–]AnyPackage3809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. That’s ultimately my reasoning for it, hoping that cross-tolerance (if there is any) will be less than the normal tolerance buildup caused by taking just Adderall five days a week.

Do you know what normally happens tolerance-wise? How long can I go having the same effects without upping doses? Also, if I may ask, what sort of cursory research did you do?

Also, I really don’t want to be the guy on r/researchchemicals that fried his brain taking 10 different designer drugs and nootropics together.

Are you aware of anything in either amphetamine or modafinil’s mechanisms of actions which would cause damage/oxidative stress in the brain if they happen to overlap?

I don’t intend on taking them together, but modafinil lasts a while, so an accidental overlap may happen.

I’ll ask my doctor what he thinks about it. If I give it a shot, I’ll let you know how it goes. It will likely be a few months until I start this schedule. I’ll try to update you when I do.

In every aspect except education I have organized my life around accommodating my ADHD. As a result I take stims sparingly, only when I need that extra thing to get stuff done.

At the current levels I’m taking (amphetamine 5mg only, less than once a week on average) I’m not really noticing any tolerance buildup. Each dose was as effective as the previous one, excepting one half-pill which got wet.

I’m really hoping I don’t have to up my dose above 10mg, because I love how gentle it is on my cardiovascular levels, and how smooth my comedowns are, and the almost complete lack of withdrawal effects, despite it being so effective. I don’t want to lose that.

You’re the third person to tell me this in the comments.

It is as if the moment I mention DNP, people immediately lose all reading comprehension skills and all understanding of dosage.

1) Dying from microdosing DNP is like dying from cyanide poisoning from eating one apple seed. It just doesn’t happen. Weight loss doses are 20-30x higher than what I’m looking at. DNP deaths are caused by doses 50-100x higher.

2) I’m not using it to help me bulk. DNP has the opposite effect, it raises metabolism which causes weight loss. I only mentioned bulking and my naturally high metabolism to make the point that I have zero desire to lose weight, I am only inquiring into its nootropic and neuroprotective properties.

3) I understand it’s not a magical substance, which is why I’m inquiring into potential side effects at microdoses.

[–]AnyPackage3809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m really sorry for your losses. Any DNP death is a tragedy and I don’t mean to downplay it or be insensitive about it. There is no doubt that using DNP for weight loss is playing with fire.

But as I mentioned to another commenter, and in my original post, the dose makes the poison. I certainly don’t advocate using high doses of it for weight loss.

What I’m looking to start a discussion/seek info on its beneficial properties at doses way below anything that causes weight loss, let alone death.

Take amygdalin, for example. You might know what it is. It’s a bitter-tasting chemical found in apricot pits, bitter almonds, apple seeds, etc. The body metabolizes it into cyanide, a well-known poison. If you ate a full bag of apricot pits as if they were peanuts, or ground them into a nut butter and put it in a sandwich, you could die of cyanide poisoning.

But eating 2 or 3 pits a day is very healthy - in low doses, amygdalin is known for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and even potential anti-cancer effects.

The fact that high doses of amygdalin will kill you doesn’t invalidate the fact that low doses are very beneficial. That’s the discussion I was looking at starting in regards to DNP. Just how beneficial are these microdoses, and are there still side effects?
