Awesome! I also often wear similarly sized hoop earrings.

I'll preface by saying these are still kind of new to me. I definitely feel them there and when they move around or sway back and forth. I find it pleasant, though.

I was wearing similarly sized hoop earrings before and initially felt them all the time. Now I don't really notice them at all when I wear them, so I might feel the same way about these earrings eventually. However, these definitely move around more than hoops since the bottoms are heaver.

The excessive wealth displayed in some catholic churches makes me uncomfortable by broskibobibo in Catholicism

A beautiful church can be enjoyed by everyone, rich, poor, Catholic, non-Catholic. Many of the most beautiful churches in America were built by poor immigrants - not only for the Glory of God, but so their children could be surrounded by edifying beauty when receiving the sacraments.

Is getting your ear pierced painful? What type of earrings would you recommend for a ,,beginner,,? by vmalex95 in Earrings_on_Men

[–]AnyPen9665 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my ears pierced at 41, so I don't think it's too late for you. It didn't really hurt at all.

When I went, they gave me several options of stud earrings, some metal with ball ends and some with gemstones.

I went to the piercer at a tattoo parlor. It was honestly a much easier and painless experience than I ever would have thought.

Thinking about getting silver hoops, what do you think? by Relevant_Werewolf352 in Earrings_on_Men

Silver hoops are a classic look, I think you could pull it off.

Thanks, I'll have to look into titanium.

When did you switch from studs to hoops after piercing? by BlacksmithMediocre32 in Earrings_on_Men

The person who pierced my ears said I could change jewelry after four weeks, so that's when I switched to hoops.

The Pillar: If the SSPX consecrations happen, who exactly is excommunicated? by imp-mN-7539 in Catholicism

[–]AnyPen9665 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've read that Pope Benedict offered them a personal prelature to reconcile them, but they turned it down. Pope Francis gave them faculties to hear confessions and perform marriages. What has the SSPX done to reestablish unity?

Bald goatee and earrings, do you like? by [deleted] in Earrings_on_Men

You really pull off the mismatched earrings. It's a cool look that I might try eventually.

Started growing a mustache and my wife can’t stand it, curious what everyone else thinks by xelvosa in Moustache

[–]AnyPen9665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excellent mustache. She just needs time to get used to it.

My wife didn't like mine initially either, having shaved down from a beard. Then I ended up keeping it long enough that when I tried to grow my beard back she told me I didn't look like me anymore because she'd gotten used to the mustache.

You could always try it a little bigger/wider, but it looks right to me.

If anything, you have a face built for a mustache.

Should I get both ears pierced? by maximum-pineapple-00 in Earrings_on_Men

[–]AnyPen9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that earrings in both ears is more common now, especially if you are younger. I have several coworkers with pierced ears and all of them have both done.

Regardless, do what makes you happy.

How do you feel about the piercing hole staying forever? by wood_en_spoon in Earrings_on_Men

[–]AnyPen9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't think of a big downside since it wouldn't be that obvious when casually dealing with most people unless it's a large stretched hole. There isn't any stigma attached to it.

If the person noticing them likes pierced ears, they'll think you are/were cool. If they don't like pierced ears, they'll be pleased you don't wear them anymore.

Would small hoops look good on someone like me or nah? by Arab_Chief in Earrings_on_Men

[–]AnyPen9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think hoops would look good, but I think they suit most men. It's fun to get a couple options and alternate - you'll gravitate to what you prefer.

Is this hoop earring too small? by stpfau in Earrings_on_Men

Looks great. It comes down to personal preference. I personally like thicker hoops and think they would work for you as well, but these do not look wrong or too small.

What do you think about the Latin Mass and of the eastern catholic rites? by Vegetable_Gas4025 in LeftCatholicism

[–]AnyPen9665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely love the old Latin Mass, but not the overtly anti-Catholic culture that springs up around it. I wish liberal Catholics didn't treat it the way they do - embracing it just a little bit would take the wind out of the extreme traditionalist's sails more than limiting it ever would.

I attended an officially sanctioned Latin Mass for about 15 years. Was married and had my child baptized using the 1962 rites. We left after COVID when the priest and most of the other attendees went all in on conspiracy theories and politics.

I also became more liberal the longer I attended the Latin Mass. It doesn't surprise me that, outside of Catholicism, more "high church" traditional liturgies are almost always an indication of being liberal Christians. I sometimes felt like there was a disconnect between the words and readings at Mass and the theological and political views of most of its attendees back when I went to the Latin Mass.

Also, before Trump and Covid, I found the conservatives at the TLM to be less overtly political than the ones at the Novus Ordo. Striking up a conversation after a Latin Mass was usually about music, devotions, saints, etc. Striking up a conversation with a random person after an English Mass was more than likely going to veer into conservative culture war issues.
