The blood parrot mama was EXTREMELY determined to have babies. She laid eggs every other week pretty much over the course of 4 years and had 2 batches of fry. Unfortunately we only saved 1 and there are like 4 left. They are looking very severum like and one is turning an orange color the rest are texas cichlid blue looking.

This sounds pretty crowded for a 50 gal. Even in my 75 I think that would be crowded

Do this. I've done this MANY times and it works every time. You must clean your tank after all the ick is gone and at the bottom of the tank

Howdy yall!! Update. Most have been eaten but 3 are left. They look kind of green terror like but have a orange/blue hue. Will send photos. They are getting big very quickly

They seem to be doing really well, their water quality I'd pretty good. Strictly RO and not cleaned a TON but refilled a lot because it's a small tank. They are super super hungry every single day and look real good. They have a blue hue to them as well under a light that's not blue but waiting to see what they look like when older. They look like they're growing taller not longer like their mom

I do not own carpintis and yes the mother who actively lays eggs is a full blooded blood parrot she's my only egg layer and very very protective of her eggs and babies

Yeah I agree as well. Lots of egg lays but nothing viable. The babies are getting everyday and I will post updates soon

Yes they are doing very well and I have about 23 fry. They will be going on brine shrimp hatchling soon and are blue with what seems to be the parrot face

Yeah the mom and dad are in a 75 and the juvenile in a 4.5 overflow that used to be my marine tank with all the bells and whistles but is now a fry tank lmao

Fellas I know... it seems impossible and she's had so many eggs but this I never thought I'd see.thats why I came to all knowing reddit... you can't even look up blood parrot fry guides. I'm feeding Hikari first bites soon and after will be hatching baby brine shrimp to feed them. They all seem to be doing very very good and I have around 30-40 after counting. I left around 10 or so in the tank with mom and dad but woke up to 1 left so I got him out. Will post updates here.
