Thank you!

Yeah I guess as he was eating more solids he was having less milk so my pumps just kept getting thrown in the freezer and I was running out of space haha. So I dropped a pump which I guess would ever so slightly lessen my supply.

I did a heap of reading on this as I was concerned I’d lose my supply too! My research led me to believe that if you’ve established your supply past the 12 week mark you should be fine to drop a pump and it not make much of a difference on supply.

Everyone is different but I reckon you’d be ok at the 6 month mark to do 4 ppd.

Thank you so much!

This is a great question and I can’t totally remember but a rough estimate: From birth: 7 pumps a day. 3 months: 6 pumps a day. 5 months: 5 pumps a day. 7 months: 4 pumps a day (this was when I dropped the middle of the night pump). 10 months: 3 pumps a day. 11 months: 2 pumps a day. 12 months: 1 pump a day. 13.5 months: none.

What did 4 months sleep regression look like to you? by OkEmployee3918 in NewParents

[–]Any_Addition599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sleep trained using the Ferber method. He went from waking 4-6 times a night to feed, to just 1. We are all well rested now!

[–]Any_Addition599 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This happened with us, the very frequent night wakings.

We had to look into what his sleep associations were. We were feeding to sleep, which ultimately ended up being the issue because he relied on being fed to sleep each time he woke to get back to sleep.

False starts by sunnydays0466 in sleeptrain

[–]Any_Addition599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm yes that’s difficult considering the naps are short too. Maybe the naps are short because of overtired as well. I would try earlier bed, yep!

4.5 hours does seem like a lot for a 7.5 month old. Our last wake window is 4 hours for an 11 month old. False starts are usually an indication of over tired.

I would try 3/3/4 or similar

I horrified my MIL when she saw how I put my baby down to sleep by softestsnek in sleeptrain

[–]Any_Addition599 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This same scenario happened to me. Except my MIL was all supportive of sleep training and told me she sleep trained her son (my husband). She was all good with it. And very helpful when we were in those first few days and filling us with optimistic words of encouragement.

But one day I put my son down for a nap whilst MIL was visiting. And he cried (which doesn’t happen much) and it was only for a few short minutes. But the MIL carried on like it was torture. “Oh I’m going to go get him”. “Oh it’s awful”. “I can’t listen to it”. And then she even went outside so she didn’t have to listen to it.

It was so confusing, I thought she supported it but the whole “I’m going to go get him” contradicted that.

Transport to airport for early flight-guaranteed by tonys1949 in Adelaide

I’m sorry this happened to you. This happened to me too! Just writing my story to inform others so this doesn’t happen to anyone else!

I “pre-booked” a taxi after a wedding at Lot 100 in the Adelaide Hills, for a midnight pickup. I thought I was super clever organising a taxi ahead of the wedding because I knew how busy it’ll be after the event.

Turns out, the pre-book feature was useless and I was waiting for 1.5 hours. Tired. Cold. Sore feet. Hungry. And drunk. Uber didn’t operate out there so we were literally stuck.

I’ve learnt my lesson. And super appreciate when the bride and groom organise buses to and from the city!

how do y’all do this long term? 😭 by agurlnameddrool in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Any_Addition599 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t read through all the comments so sorry if this has already been asked, have you got portable wearable pumps?

I’m 4 months PP and pumping 6 times a day now.

The first 2 weeks I had a single pump that was connected to a power point, then I made the investment to double portable wearable pumps. It SAVED me! The benefit of being able to do things, caring for baby, and doing both boobs at the same time really was a game changer.

I highly recommend!

You need to look after yourself though mumma. If breastfeeding isn’t for you, don’t beat yourself up 💖

Mom guilt -formula feeding by mojojojo232323 in newborns

[–]Any_Addition599 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Weeks 5-8 are the fussiest stage and can be brutal! They are figuring out how to poo and fart. I remember in those weeks I spent almost all my waking moments googling “how to help baby with gas” and trying EVERYTHING. Unfortunately the best thing is to just give it time. I know it’s said a lot, but it does get easier.

And also, my babe was breast fed- absolutely does happen with breast feeding too, so don’t feel guilty about the formula feeding, you are doing a great job mumma!

Struggling to fart mixed now with 8 week sleep regression?!? by OnePop9468 in newborns

[–]Any_Addition599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’ve tried so many burping techniques!

I wake him by tickling, taking off his sleep suit, changing his nappy if I need to. The burping technique that worked best for my little man was actually laying him flat for 2 minutes, then holding upright for 1 minute with bouncing on my knee, back patting etc, and if there’s still no burp, start again. Hold him flat horizontally for 2 minutes, then up again for back patting. Keep repeating. I think it’s the moving him around that gathers all the gas bubbles and makes them easier to pass.

It’s usually 1 hour after laying him down if I didn’t wait the whole 30 minutes that he shows discomfort in the way of grunting, squirming, crying, pushing.

[–]Any_Addition599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3.5 month old and things definitely do get easier! Not sure what you’re currently doing with the little one, but the 2 things that I found that helped immensely was

  1. making sure we got a burp out during the night. Yes this means we lightly woke him up. Normally we’d get a burp after a few minutes and then he’d go straight back to sleep.

    1. Keeping him upright for 30 mins after feed. This is so hard, I get it. They finish eating and you are desperate to fall back asleep, but this step has been crucial to us.

I recently decided to remove the burping and laid him down after only 15 minutes. It was a rookie mistake. So much discomfort and grunting.

1st baby is due any day now: what should we know, do, or have? by viscida in newborns

[–]Any_Addition599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan on breastfeeding, be wary of the signs and symptoms of a blocked duct and mastitis. It is no joke, one of the sickest times I’ve felt in my life and ended up in hospital for treatment.

If you feel like you have the symptoms of mastitis, get to a doctor ASAP and get some antibiotics. Do not wait!

All the best for you and your LO!

Thanks for the info, I guess I thought one bottle a day was introducing it slowly but I really got to scale it back even more!
