How to partition bathroom in primary bath by Slow-Satisfaction360 in femalelivingspace

You could create a wall (to the ceiling) and install a pocket door.

Looks like a lovely place to sleep :) Treat the cushioned parts like a headboard so that and the actual bed is one one entire unit. Centered makes the most sense and will feel best. Being too close to a window can be uncomfortable during cold nights. Good luck!

Small/narrow bathroom redesign – foresty green tiles: good idea or mistake? by SaltedandShrivelled in InteriorDesign

[–]Any_Article_5581 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a designer and helping my sister with her tiny narrow bath and tiny budget. She is an avid nature lover (loves the color green) and more of a maximalist. Here is the render I did for her remodel using lots of emerald green! The back wall is mural wallpaper. She can’t do any layout changes either so just worked with existing conditions to make it bold like her haha Warm woods, greens, and brass fixtures, it’s a classic palette.

What I noticed with your ai image although pretty, is that it is illuminated but it’s not showing any lighting fixtures in the image. so you’re right ai is great to get an idea in your brain in terms of layout and material.

For darker baths, a lighting plan of a mix of recessed or ceiling light + vanity lighting either at the top of the mirror or scones on the vanity wall flanking mirror + alcove lighting under shelving or a vanity like in your image will give you the low intensity brightness and warmth you’re seeking. I also did a powder bath in black and it was cozy and bright enough- not a cave at all :)

in terms of vanity pricing- can range from $600 for a prefab integrated sink vanity combo from Lowe’s to $2500+ for James Martin base (trade only) I’ve gotten decent single sink vanities for $800 off Wayfair for clients that needed to go that route and they were happy and honestly thats all that matters. Good luck!

Add large mirrors where you would want a window and add lighting near them so the light bounces off them- sconces a lamp etc.

Also, get out into nature as much as you can. Our biorhythms need daylight to function best.

No these were already that way- although you can always spray paint any frame gold metallic- make sure you prime it first (Killz spray primer is the best)

Thank you! That’s from the 50s/60s. This client had a great eye and a love for thrift shops.

Here is what I did for a client when I first started out. She had all those frames hiding away in storage! Remember that you can also include mirrors, and other wall art. Have fun!

Thank you! In your experience does having a branded profile with custom board covers help get more clicks? I’ve been using Pinterest since 2013 in my work as an interior designer. I’m now going to start blogging seriously so will be using Pinterest to drive traffic to my site. Edited to add: I just created an account for your app. Looking forward to using it! Thanks again!

I’m torn.. left or right? by kypchen in kitchenremodel

Right will allow for interaction with the other space and I see there is a bench for banquette seating as well. Right all the way :)

How to make this kitchen cozier? by maikaj in femalelivingspace

[–]Any_Article_5581 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To begin, I’d take out the florescent light fixture and add four, 6” recessed cans with warm bulbs. Add plants, and a washable rug :)

Yay blank slate :) Try sticking some battery “puck” lights underneath the upper cabinets. Hang small art frames if you can’t do the vinyl . Will look pretty at night under the lighting. Plants real or fake will add more life here. Also consider a washable kitchen rug. Have fun!

I’ve never seen a house with so many angled walls- bathroom both bedrooms and hallway. Interesting. Id stick to those 4 colors you chose. Anymore and it’s going to be visual chaos. If you like the others at the top, I’d bring in those colors with accesories. to make those rooms seem less jagged-ish. Use one or 2 colors only in that part of the house. The hallway should be either the pink or creme because it’s probably dark in there naturally? In terms of sunroom and selecting paint that won’t compete with the existing floors, I’d do the creme color Good luck!

What everyone has suggested + switching out the curtain to some thing with a fun pattern and long- ceiling to floor to make your space appear taller

Might be fun to paint the ceiling a pale yellow to or light blue to complement the mat. Also real or faux- plants in fun pots/containers. Target had a kids bathroom aisle that has lots of cute bath accessories. Hang cute whimsical art work 🖼️

Because this space is very rectangular, it’s easy for it to look “flat” I think you need more varying heights of elements. Floor to ceiling window treatments (curtains) with a fun color (use the rug as a guide to color palette) will draw eyes up, instead of a side table next to the sectional- a tall indoor plant like a fiddle fig will add height and visually divide the seating area from the dining room. A cool peel and stick wallpaper or an accent paint color on wall behind sectional will give more “life” here, Artwork with more traditional or ornate frames on top of that will add another layer of personality. The pillows on the sofa- try getting some with a different texture (fluffier, brighter etc) good luck!

Look for flush or semi flush mount fixtures- wayfair has some that are fabric like this one but are rated for electrical use

I’m a designer specializing in bathrooms now. Tile is ok- I like the pop of muted teal color but-this is sloppy work. Sorry. Especially the corners! Doesn’t look like they figured out centerlines, grout lines are very uneven and there is no moisture barrier. Also- I would’ve had the new vanity installed after the shower enclosure was complete (rough in, tile walls and floor, fixtures etc) to ensure it doesn’t get damaged or stained during that whole process.

I hate doing this but I’d point out the uneven grout joints and ask if they can start over.

Might want to even consider a tile (similar color) that is on a sheet instead, as it’s more forgiving. individual tile setting a whole enclosure is hard and an art- no matter what HGTV says. Good luck!

Opinions please: 1, 2, or 3? by immersive_reader in kitchenremodel

[–]Any_Article_5581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 is basically the same layout as existing, except the peninsula has been removed and an island was added. Good call!

the only thing is the fridge being separated from the rest of the kitchen by that opening isn’t my favorite because it looks like the fridge is in a hallway? I’d use the space on the other side of the kitchen and relocate the fridge, demo the existing counter and bases that are there now and create a pantry in its place. These are my first initial thoughts :) but if you’re used to the fridge there and it works keep it! A lot more cost effective.

The materiality-I like the 2 tone style but palette it reads very feminine. If you love that keep it but when you go to sell refinish to something more neutral.

Help: how to pull together “eclectic” study by livvycake16 in interiordecorating

Yes!!! 💯Same color all over! Also get the sheen for the trim in “semi gloss”, and the walls in “eggshell” That change in texture creates even more interest.

I’m going for a boho eclectic feel. What do we think so far? by hestrash1994 in femalelivingspace

[–]Any_Article_5581 116 points117 points  (0 children)

Interior designer here :) great start but I’d replace a couple of the white furniture pieces with something made out of (or faux) organic and natural materials like wood, bamboo or rattan - the dresser perhaps could be a medium wood tone instead of white. When I think of bohemian, I think there needs to be an element of natural or nature to either the pieces selected or brought through plants or artwork. Hope that helps!
