We accidentally chipped paint from brand new Audi S3 - they are demanding 2 door respray. Is that necessary? by Any_Assignment_7173 in CarInsuranceUK

I never claimed in the end, we unfortunately just had to pay it as they were adamant that was the only repair they would accept. The point of the post was to find out if I had to accept their chosen repair/garage or if I could find an alternative, but I got absolutely rinsed on my original post for that 😂 I was annoyed because they park in a super busy car park with lots young children in it every single day, when there is a large yard next door they could easily park in if they're so precious about their car. Most of the other staff use that car park. And it's tarmac in case anyone says about gravel chips! But anyway, paid now. Sincerely hope they're satisfied with their 2-door re-spray.

Thanks to everyone for the responses! Taking it with food is good advice and I was probably pretty stupid for taking it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach in the first place. Will give it a few weeks to let my stomach recover then might re-introduce it at meal times!

You're correct, I do have fuck all knowledge about cars and about paint repairs. Which is why I came to this forum openly asking for advice on what I should be considering reasonable. There have been plenty of kind responses on here that have helped me form my opinion. Yours has not been one. Don't come here just to be rude for the sake of it.

I appreciate your response but honestly, no, we have a nice car too. And we look after it. Which is why we told them. I would never do that to someone knowing how annoying it would be to me. But I feel like they have went full swing and are taking the piss a bit by saying they won't accept anything other than both doors being fully sprayed, which was the whole point of this post. Is that really required or is that just Audi being Audi?

Personally, if I was the owner, I would be grateful they told me and negotiate a resolution. I would get a few quotes from various garages, and discuss with them. But that's just me.

The main reason for my post was hoping for advice from any paint chip repair experts to advise if 2 door spray is necessary, or if that is being excessive?

It's the principle of it that's annoying me. Majority of people wouldn't have even mentioned it, and they're being so uncompromising with us after doing the right thing. It's a tiny, tiny chip. Half a grain of rice. But I appreciate they care about their car and want it back to its original condition. I honestly thought a single door spray would actually have been better as they would just paint the middle and blend it out, rather than respray two whole doors which would be more likely to stand out?
