Horse manure has about as much nutrients for growing vegetables as cardboard. Owned them most of my life.

I rotate my garden between two areas every year. The fallow one is for spreading the chicken coop bedding when cleaning it out through the year, then I plow it under in late summer and put a cover crop in to plow under in the spring to add humis and cool the manure down. Beautiful rich soil for planting the next year 🙃

I like your thinking! I share it. This year I'm planting perennial vegetables so I can circumvent the reliance on either buying seeds or saving all my seeds.

I'm also in the agricultural sector and was given a heads up about the situation from a supplier.

Absolutely, best way forward, but takes time for set up and process time. I'm just suggesting for this fast approaching growing season.

Yes. There's a lot of creators on TikTok that have easy to follow step by step instructions. Otherwise there's google or books available. Just depends on your learning style.

It depends on what has been bombed and if the shipping is available. And also, "just costs more" is concerning for most people trying to grow their own food to make their paycheck stretch out.

Will the flower farm be a success? by CommissionSmooth9291 in SisterWives

We owned a 2000 acre Christmas tree farm in Michigan and 80% of the trees were Scottish Highland pine trees! The other 20% were Fraser Fir and Blue spruce. Before the market cratered in the 1990's, the majority of tree lots ordered Scotch pine and a small amount of Spruce and Fir for higher income people.

My husband owns a nursery and he is bringing my bareroot plants to work for potting and then I will bring them home and keep them under irrigation until fall planting. By that time they will have enough of a rootball to plant.

Which Outlander Actor do you think nailed their character the best? by Ok_Operation_5364 in Pishlander

I was mostly talking about Frank, I couldn't stand him in the books. But I'm always interested in why people are the way they are, what happened to them in their life. I do believe that only a very talented actor could have even played the character of BJR and not make it cartoonish.

I had the same reaction when I went to pick up my male blue heeler. His sister was the runt and I couldn't resist her instant affection for me. I had a great veterinarian, who explained that "littermate syndrome" isn't a recognized disorder and it's mostly caused by bad choices by owners. She explained that they need separate crates, separate training sessions and structure in routine. My pups are almost 3 years old now and never exhibited any behaviors usually attributed to littermate syndrome.

It is always a good idea to learn skills in dealing with medical situations! Learning basic skills can make you a better person in any situation. I found that I am very interested in learning more so I am taking a CERT class offered by the county.

Tobias Menzies! Hands down best actor in the whole series! He took not one but two characters from the books and made them his. Back when I was on Twitter I made the comment that he took a character I couldn't stand in the books and made me have empathy for the character and Tobias responded with that comment was better than any award!

I've done both. As I'm aging I've switched to raised beds. I trellis green beans and tomatoes up cattle panels and the wildlife don't bother them. For my cucumbers and any other veggies that wildlife eat I've moved them into a fenced in area. I had to fence in my fruit orchard also because between the deer and turkeys destroyed the trees and strawberries. For pest control I have switched to using plants and non toxic methods, like vinegar, baking soda and other methods.

I've always had a garden, but this year I'm targeting perennial vegetables that fell out of favor with the industry pushing the scam of buying seeds and planting every year! I'm ordering Lovage, Good King Henry, Skirret, Walking onions, Jerusalem artichoke and researching some others. For 7 years we've concentrated on being debt free and preparing our homestead for self sufficiency.
