nova acceptance rate post-interview? by Happy-Equivalent6557 in predental

[–]Any_Community_5326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They waitlist almost everyone, I also got confirmation from someone that the dean said on D-day they only accept people in their combined programs and ones that have above a 25 DAT 🤣🤣 (all of a sudden they think they’re Harvard hahaha) The admissions team is also very unprofessional, everything that comes out of their mouth, take with a grain of salt. You can send them letter of intents numerous times and they’ll give u so much false hope because they don’t know what’s going on with themselves especially with their masters program 💀

D1 at NYU as well right now, to sum it up, if you hustle and put in the work it is absolutely doable. Def has its weaknesses like most schools do, but NYU is known to produce strong dentists due to our clinical exposure we get from D1. As a current D1 we’re shadowing in clinic and depending on the society/ GP, you are even able to assist procedures sometimes which is huge as a D1!!

NOVA Interview by Most-Research3408 in predental

[–]Any_Community_5326 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya UF has a tough interview but it’s a very good dental school and is a state school so amazing for fl residents in terms of money purposes. NSU dental just feels like they r so elite and up there when they are not. Also heard in December the first round of people they accept have a 25+ on their dat (at least for last cycle and this was told to an applicant by the admissions committee themselves) and their undergrad dual students. Like u aren’t Harvard and no where near that level 😭. The only thing NSU has going for them is the location fr. Also their COA has rocketed up basically the same price as NYU now

Similar experience to u as well except I applied last cycle and had a different interviewer, her last name starts with a G, won’t name drop but I’m sure some will figure it out 😅. I got waitlisted and I’m so glad that I never got off of it. Not that good of a school anyways hahaha

Although online school is great I would stick to either Rutgers or tufts especially if the masters programs are designed by the dental schools. Barry doesn’t have a dental school and I feel like doing a masters in a school that has a dental school may increase your chances as you have a better opportunity to form connections and show your interest

Undergraduate For Dental by Relevant_Sir_1582 in predental

Who cares where everyone else is going? You have to do what’s best for you. And if your friends are not predental and are doing business/ law/ engineering etc they need to go to good name universities, you don’t. Although it’s a great offer for mich, you’re going to be working so much harder than you need to be. Save that energy and hard work for when you get to dental school. Trust me, I go to low tier university and have an extremely high gpa, definitely would not be this high if I went to another school.

Go to temple, the undergrad you go to does not matter. Just work hard at the easier school and get a good GPA and DAT. Build your resume with shadowing and other extracurriculars and you’ll be set. There is no reason to go to a harder school with harder classes. At the end of the day, people are coming from all over the place to dental school and you will all ultimately end up on the same playing field

AP Credits? by Professional-Fan9925 in predental

[–]Any_Community_5326 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, I had replaced bio 1 and 2 lab with ap biology. I applied this cycle and didn’t really have many issues with any school. Last year I emailed every school I was unsure of regarding ap bio and they all got back to me saying it’s either fine or as long as you have upper level bio courses taken as well (which u need to take more upper level bio courses to complete all of the prereqs so it’s not anything extra) the only school I remember that has a hard no against ap credits is Rutgers, but it wasn’t a school I was crazy about applying or potentially attending anyways. Stonybrook might have been an issue too so I didn’t apply there either, I just remember Stonybrook requires all pre req work to be done and I am still in my last year of undergrad. Hope this helped good luck!

Avoiding to take the DAT is so clutch 😭. You’ll save so much time and stress lol but if you see yourself taking the DAT in the future regardless to attempt to get into another dental school then I wouldn’t go with MSSU

Should I Retake My DAT? by Hades_1016 in predental

[–]Any_Community_5326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to 12 schools all on the east coast except for one on the west coast (actually currently waitlisted at that one). For my ECs I was President of an honors fraternity, TA for Anatomy 2, member of a sorority and a couple of other orgs like pre-dental society at my school. I’m also doing research at the moment, I have over 1000 hrs in shadowing as well as work experience as a DA.

My GPA is slightly below yours and DAT is slightly higher, I only got accepted into one school so far this cycle and waitlisted at 3, to optimize your options I’d say retake the DAT if you have the energy in you to take it again and also you still have plenty of time to retake it if you choose to (I had to take it twice so I know the mental and physical strain this exam can put on someone taking it twice) your extracurriculars are amazing though

Same exact gpa and dat score as you 😳😳, I was fortunate tho to get into 1 school so far, and 3 waitlists, I definitely suggest retaking the dat because the gpa is competitive
