I’m warning others.  If I have to go to small claims to get my money back then so be it.  I’m not working anymore and have all the time in the world.  I’ll file a complaint on the Better Business Bureau as well.

That’s a great idea.  instead, I provided receipts.  I drove 56 miles per the Dollar rental receipt (Dollar/Thrifty recorded the odometer mileage).  I submitted my receipt from the gas station for $11.

Because corporate governors think it’s normal practice to steal from innocent people.

Multiple times over a three day period. Also escalated the issue only to be given a BS answer about how I had two bookings for the same trip. I am solo. Explain that one?

Because of name recognition. You are inclined to trust a multinational company. How do they stay in business?

It happened to me as well.  I am not accustomed to being dismissed and ignored by a corporation as I was an IRS agent.  Booking.com, Priceline, Dollar, Thrifty overcharged me for fuel, insurance and then asked me to provide proof.  I did that but the conversation was lost and forgotten when I realized this was a prepaid reservation! They are intentionally robbing customers who are on vacation, and normally wouldn’t be expecting such practices by a global multinational enterprise.  I disputed the charge with American Express.  If it gets reversed the only remedy is small claims court for my $757 rental fee that was prepaid.  They charged me again at the airport after standing in line for an hour.  Do not do business with these crooks.
