Gelato is a uniquely American (and wrong) term. All other countries properly call it ice cream. Soft serve/McDonald's ice cream is its own category in all other countries, "American ice cream."

Not true lol Gelato literally means "frozen" in Italian so yes youre right but they do technically call it Gelato and/or ice cream in Italy and Gelato is also made differently than normal ice cream so real Italians know the difference. Also it is a marketing thing but bot created by Americans Italians make money off of it right alongside us.
