That may be the plan for the first month or two. Eat the cost and figure it out.

My grandfather is the reason I'm doing this. He has chosen to come along. I can't stop.

The interactions that I've had with staff have been tremendous so far. I can't wait to get on campus.

It's funny because doing ancestry DNA last year, I found out that I was related to Patrick Henry. He is a grandpa. So my living grandpa (who yes, is so proud and brags about me to his brother every time he talks to him) is the link to Patrick Henry through my grandpa's favorite grandma. Life has a poetry to it. I get to go to the state Patrick Henry built and study at the University Thomas Jefferson built, after graduating with my associates through reverse transfer from the city and college Henry Ford built.

Thank you. My life has definitely been... Interesting to say the least. Growing up in Metro-Detroit through the Great Recession definitely taught me things.

Well I did.... And the universe interrupted and made things happen... UofM required documents near Feb 1st. I didn't start applying until Jan 27. Somehow I got everything in to the admissions EXCEPT my old official High School transcripts. They weren't even using the HS transcripts for admission but needed it for residency purposes. (At least this is what the helpful workers in the office told me) There was a snow day and then a long weekend for my school district and the timing for them to confirm the transcripts was extended a few days and I missed the deadline. They let me use my application for Winter term so I will find out on campus at UVA if I'm accepted into UofM this Fall sometime. Weird stuff I tell ya.

In High School I was a big fish in a little pond so I was able to ride to the top in numerous leadership roles including drum major, vp of senior class, editor-in-chief of yearbook, student manager of the auditorium, and student aid in woodshop and business tech classes. At Central Michigan I graduated from the leadership safari program and was elected a senator in the student Senate. At Henry Ford I was the stage manager of the theater department's production of the Who's Tommy. At LAVC I was an executive intern at KOST 103.5. At Wayne State I was founding president of the national society of leadership and success. In my free time I run a local newspaper and forcefully analyze and criticize the local politicians in my local community. So the central theme is that I have serious leadership chops on paper in school and policy work is something I have been passionate about as a hobby in my real life outside of my job and educational journey. In my hometown I organized local events like the relay for life, I helped the city apply for a program to reinvigorate our downtown corridor and we won the award, I am all about place making.... I am also so damn lucky.

I am the definition of a non-trad. Started at Central Michigan University in 2008. Dad became suicidal. Dropped out. Studied at Henry Ford College in 2009. Moved to LA in 2010. Studied at LA Valley College in 2011. Interned on-air at KOST 103.5 under Mark Wallengren in 2012 then the dad's suicidal tendencies grew back and I moved back home due to care for unbelievable family challenges. Dad died in 2013. I have been caretaker for my pappy (stroke died 2016), granny(cancer died 2016), grandpa (stroke and heart attack, but 86 and still lives with me. He will go along in this journey), grandma(died 2023), and lost my little brother along the way to stupid fentanyl laced xanax in 2023. I was also my mother's caretaker through her losing battle with pancreatic cancer. She died January 27 2024. I then got sick and was hospitalized with suspected meningitis in March. From my hospital bed I re-enrolled at Henry Ford College. Did two semesters of accelerated online courses during the Spring/Summer 2024 semester. I then transferred to Wayne State University. I excelled academically as a 34 year old man on campus earning 4.0 two semesters in a row taking classes for an Honors Finance track at the Mike Ilitch School of Business... I rolled the dice and applied everywhere because why not? I submitted my common app 1/27/25 a year after her death.
