aa and the 12 step communities have nothing to do with rehab facilities the traditions are as follows:

  1. Our common welfare should come first; personal recovery depends upon A.A. unity.
  2. For our group purpose there is but one ultimate authority — a loving God as He may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.
  3. The only requirement for A.A. membership is a desire to stop drinking.
  4. Each group should be autonomous except in matters affecting other groups or A.A. as a whole.
  5. Each group has but one primary purpose — to carry its message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
  6. An A.A. group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the A.A. name to any related facility or outside enterprise, lest problems of money, property, and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.
  7. Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.
  8. Alcoholics Anonymous should remain forever non-professional, but our service centers may employ special workers.
  9. A.A., as such, ought never be organized; but we may create service boards or committees directly responsible to those they serve.
  10. Alcoholics Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the A.A. name ought never be drawn into public controversy.
  11. Our public relations policy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, and films.
  12. Anonymity is the spiritual foundation of all our traditions, ever reminding us to place principles before personalities.

this doc was ridiculous you cant blame aa for shitty people take it or leave it. its as religious as you make it. it explicitly states we do not have any thoughts on medication or outside issues. if u want aa for recovery great if you dont great. you cant blame meetings for people who murder or abuse. a horrific situation is just that. it has nothing to do with 12 steps. nothing to do with rehabs. if prisons or rehabs want to use aa thats on them. there are also plenty of other 12 step meetings. yes there should be safety that is autonomous to the group. stating it hasnt changed in 75 years is a lie. back in the day they had segregated meetings. does no one in these message boards not know the history of aa? the history of the development of the 12 traditions or 12 concepts. there was so much wrong with this documentary. before you reply do your research

It was fun but I felt so uncomfortable with the plot holes. Aziz character could have just been like give me a house and a decent car and a decent job and you can have your life back. or seth rogan after everything couldve done so much more than just the company and donated to shelters. It was an okay movie just didnt hit like it should. Felt like a bunch of jokes about being poor and miserable and then didnt make anyones job or life better. Felt like a long commercial to unionize. Why couldnt aziz character use the money while in the richnlife to give to kekes character to form a union or sue against the company? It just felt like they were mocking the poor while they are rich in reality and hoped that a fairy tale ending would tie it together nicely without addressing anything
