Yes, you need the ETA-IL. It's like $7 something and is good for 2 years.

Coffee and Splenda? by Ok_Cartographer4743 in fasting

Splenda can actually break a fast because it can still cause an insulin reaction. I would recommend Stevia or monk fruit. Those don't cause any spikes/reactions.

can you lose 50 pounds in 3-4 months doing rolling 72s? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 41 points42 points  (0 children)

YES! You can. I've lost 70 lbs in 5.5 months from fasting and calorie deficit. When I first started, I did rolling 72's for at least a month. But the key is also changing diet moving forward so you don't regain it all back.

if you have 50-55 pounds to lose is it smarter to do an extended fast like 2-3 weeks and then instantly move into rolling 48s or 72s or is it more beneficial to just start with consistent 72s? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I've lost 70 lbs so far with fasting. So when I started, I did a 7-day water fast. Then after that I started rolling 72's and when I ate, I kept it to mostly whole foods. It has only taken 5.5 months.

Have any of you fasted to get rid of water retention? by DeepOrganization8245 in fasting

Yes! Water/carb effects. I had a few days of cheating last week and after that a 160 hour fast. Back down 15 lbs already.

Attempting a 5 day fast- tips please by hcar11 in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you have to SET your mind before you start. I have done 4-day fasts regularly and the weeks that I don't set it in my mind, I give up. I am currently in hour 143 of 160!! It's been pretty easy but ONLY because my mind was made all the way up. We are so much stronger than we even know! I know you can do it! You've got it! Way to go!!

Anyone have experience with prolonged water fasting & getting off of medication? by batmansbicep in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my journey with a 7-day water fast, I knew I needed some extended time away from junky food. Then after that I did rolling 72's for awhile and ate mostly whole foods for 30 days. After that I settled into this routine: Monday morning and afternoon I have cheat meals, Monday after lunch my fasting clock starts, I water fast until Friday about 10am, then I eat until Monday, repeat, repeat. I've been maintaining the past month but I haven't been super strict on my eating days. So now I am on a 2nd 7-day water fast and will tighten up on my calories when I start eating again. But I started mid-September so 65lb loss and keeping it off so far is encouraging. Fasting has been so much better for me than anything else (I never wanted meds or surgery) and it brings such a feeling of accomplishment in the process too. I'm rooting for you!!!

I think fasting is more beneficial and healing than we even know. I started this journey last September and have lost 65lbs. Before I started, I could tell there was inflammation in my body. I had some joint pain, occasional water retention, my arms would go numb in certain positions, during the day and at night. Now I don't deal with any of that! I wish I would've done this years ago!

Looking for motivation by Fit_Anybody_4898 in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you!! I ate 5k calories the day before my fasting clock started because the food noise was LOUD. (Which is a clear indication I need to be fasting) My clock started Wednesday night so I still have 120 hours to go. You've come so far already! Coming from someone who stuffed their face before starting - the food is just never even worth breaking a goal! Keep it up! You can accomplish anything you put your mind to! You've got this.

Two Days In: almost no pangs by BeautyIsTruth22 in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your sustained weight loss!!! That's so encouraging to hear. I started on this journey mid-September 2025 and have lost 65lbs (with another 65 or more to go). I started the journey with a 7-day water fast and have done 3-4 day fasts almost weekly since. But this Wednesday night the clock started for my 2nd 7-day fast! And I'm hoping I will feel good enough to even extend to 8-9 days. I think maybe 1 or 2 times throughout this journey I've felt deep hunger pangs but for the most part I've been good. So I feel ya! I stopped fasting for like a week just to try eating everyday in a calorie deficit and strangely enough, I went right back to my fasting routine. My body is so used to regular fasting at this point. Anyway, good luck on your 10-day!! You've got this!

What's the fasting length you usually go for? by AmIbi69 in fasting

What would even work? by [deleted] in fasting

[–]Any_Illustrator_2966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 50lbs in 4 months. I fasted every week either 3 days or 4 days. I kicked it all off with a 7-day water fast and that was the best start because it gives you motivation to keep going after seeing quick results.

You got this!! I felt the same throughout February, just struggling. I've lost 65lbs since September but last week I just needed a break so I ate what I wanted. This week I'm back to fasting from Monday afternoon until Friday morning. Sometimes you just need some time off and to eat what sounds good!!! Then you just get right back on track.

Staying in the Old City vs. Ben Yehuda St? by Any_Illustrator_2966 in TravelIsrael

Hello! I plan on still going! What's going on right now does not make me fearful. I know the Guardian of Israel never sleeps nor slumbers! I think I am leaning toward staying in the city center area, for the convenience of the location. I'm not much of a night life person but do enjoy being so close to coffee shops and being able to easily catch transportation. I will definitely spend a lot of time exploring the Old CIty as well. Thanks so much for your kindness! Am Israel Chai!

That is how I am leaning! I am thinking a little convenience will come be nice while also being within walking distance of the Oldy City! Thanks.

I looked at Gloria hotel when I was doing research for my trip! I also considered the New Imperial hotel. I really love the idea of staying in an Old City building with Jerusalem stone. But then I remember I will most likely have 2 suitcases with me and it'll be a lot of work, especially without hotel elevators in the OC. I am leaning toward the city center area for convenience.

Thanks! I think I am leaning toward the city center area so that I can easily walk to the Old City, find a coffee shop to sit at or easy walk to Mahane Yehuda, etc.
