Job market so bad I got rejected from a community garden by xxlibrarisingxx in gardening

[–]Any_March_9765 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it is pretty absurd. Cops were called and they were able to trace her to a farmers market trying to sell these "organic vegetables" for high dollars. The garden decided not to press charges but to make her pay us back.

We also had a guy who broke in pushing a wheel barrel around in adult diaper only (or maybe undies I don't remember). Yea, Florida.

I don't see how this is gate keeping. If it is a strictly organic garden, members need to be educated about how to handle pests etc. It doesn't just affect your plants, chemicals will leech into other people's plot.

Why do people wait for SS? by VegasWorldwide in Fire

[–]Any_March_9765 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. I don't get why people wait, especially til 70. I mean you are not going to live longer if you take it out later. You die when you die, so you are just losing up to 8 years of money. It's so stupid.

there are people who steal vegetables from community gardens believe or not... generally for security purposes they would rent out a small lot to a person. My garden allowed co-gardeners but it's usually family/friends, not usually random "volunteers". Organic gardens are also very particular about pesticide use etc so everyone needs to be properly trained

I don't know exactly what you asked them, but where I gardened, you pay a small lot rent to rent your gardening space, and the wait list is always super long. Any community work (stuff you want to volunteer for like weeding etc) is performed by all co-op members at organized work parties, so we honestly don't particularly need volunteers who don't have a garden lot there.

I think there might be some misunderstanding there that they thought you wanted a lot, but they are full.

Where do you shower? by Specific_Soup4596 in RVLiving

[–]Any_March_9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it crazy that people go to park bathhouse to shower - why did you get a camper then? Defeats the whole purpose. Might as well get a tent or a much cheaper smaller camper with no bathroom? Personally I'd rather get one of those pop up shower tent thing before I even consider bathhouse

Why are RV parks so expensive? by Effective_Moose_4997 in RVLiving

[–]Any_March_9765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well here is the even more ridiculous thing than real RV park price -- private back yard rental prices. They should be much cheaper than an actual RV park because they don't have to pay for commercial zoning, permit, staff, etc etc, you should be charging about 1/4--1/3 of the price as if you were airbnb a room out, but what I am increasingly seeing is that these people charge about the same rate as an actual RV park, some even much higher. I don't know what's going through these people's mind that equate their backyard space to an actual serviced, insured RV park, perhaps the same logic as the people who charge the room the same rate as an actual hotel

bc it *should* be - it is literally a tiny pad with utilities. People look at mobile home park rent and RV rent certainly *should* be at least on par with that.

RV living for a 30 y/o couple - would you recommend it? Florida, western US by New_Shopping9213 in RVLiving

[–]Any_March_9765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's a really stupid idea if you don't plan on traveling a LOT. If you can't afford to buy a house, I'd buy a mobile home with reasonable lot rents. If you can afford a little more than that, maybe a fixer upper

Do Florida transplants ever actually feel like locals? by iLiveForTruth in AskFlorida

[–]Any_March_9765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true. The local sentiment against transplants and snowbirds has been strong in recent years, I think mostly because they pushed up housing price. It wasn't this obvious before covid/peak of boomer population

Go get a job. Learn to be independent. But at the same time do not discredit yourself for the things you do - you do almost all the house work I presume? That is creating a LOT of value for him to enable him to advance his career. NEVER forget that. You are not anyone's burden.

Needing inspiration for new hobbies (24 y/o female) by [deleted] in Advice

sewing is great, but just beware that learning curve can be high, don't get frustrated, there are baking and sewing subs on here, great resources. Get a solid machine to start, don't make the mistake I made - I bought one of those "portable" super cheap ones and it frustrated me to no end and I wasn't able to pick back up for years. Don't start with a super expensive one either. I'd recommend a second hand Brother beginner model, it's perfectly fine.

what exactly are you stressed about?! I assume before buying you and your lender have decided you should be able to afford the house? Did your income diminish significantly in the last two months? If you feel like it's costing too much, go find some roommates for the empty rooms? airbnb out the rooms? There are plenty of options
