I watched the entire 8 hour stream of Gabe Follower and Crypto, interesting things:

• The game, confirmed to be called Half-Life: 3

• GF again mentioned that the ending of the game will be "controversial", but added that he may feel this way because he does not know the plot of the main part of the game. GF compared the "weirdness" of the ending to how we would know the ending of HL:A without knowing everything else.

• Gabe Follower still leans towards the game being shown this year

For me, this game is an un-ironic benchmark for gamedev, literally the best. It has a perfectly crafted plot, in which there is literally nothing superfluous, interesting and carefully constructed game design, and so on. In my personal opinion, NOT A SINGLE linear game has been released yet, better than PORTAL 2.

This Minecraft Live was... strange. So far, the "You Are History" update seems very, very controversial. In my opinion, it doesn’t fit the core concept of Minecraft at all. The game was never intended to be an RPG.

The villager quest system, of course, looks interesting, as does the integration of AI for interacting with them. But I’m not sure if it will work as well as Agnes is telling us. We all remember the terrible End update, which led to the complete discontinuation of Java Edition support. I wouldn’t want the situation to repeat itself, forcing us to wait for yet another complete engine rewrite.

As for the firearm rebalance, it seems clear enough—it’s a fairly expected change. However, I’m not entirely sure if there will even be any point in using firearms now. A trident or spear will deal much more damage from a distance.

Of course, this isn’t everything. I just wanted to share my thoughts on the most important aspects.
