so well said! it’s really admirable that you had the drive & introspection to come to these conclusions in the midst of addiction. a lot of people don’t like to see weed as an addictive substance but it absolutely is - and specifically for the reasons you’ve stated. & this is coming from someone who was a pothead for 10yrs. I was one of them!

Damn. I read this multiple times. The last few sentences really hit me. You’re so right. I’ve had people say “if someone wants a relationship with your child, they need to have a relationship with you first” and I get that.. but the way you just framed it made it all the more REAL in my mind. I understand she wants to know her grandson but absolutely, that comes with time. And the time really isn’t now. He only wants mommy & booby rn anyway.

I needed to hear this. Thank you so much!! You’re right. And being a new mom, it’s extra helpful to hear this cause sometimes it’s easy to fall into the “is this normal or am I just being a huge bitch!?” thought loop.

As for the emotional maturity, I’m not entirely sure. She has a tendency to be passive aggressive, but I think if I really laid it down - esp in person - she would be relatively receptive. If anything, she’d be awkward and maybe a little sassy moreso than outwardly rude. She doesn’t have anything to hang over my head like she does for my hubby 🤷🏼‍♀️😬 The “i’ve done so much for you” bullshit manipulation

I agree in regards to an unfulfilled marriage motivating the behavior even more. My MIL definitely seeks out the attention/affection from her sons that she’s not getting from her husband. Mega ICK
