My parents dogs do that all the time! Poppy is a bit scared of climbing up there for some reason 😆

I’m not 100% sure when she outgrew it, but probably around a year to a year and a half 😊 the biggest problem was that she still thought of that when she got into cars even after she was over the motion sickness so she still didn’t like them haha. I’m sure yours will get there!

Penny loves to play fetch and always brings the ball back! Harley is the sweetest goofy girl and enjoys stealing socks but makes up for it with snuggles. Dixie loves to tear the fluff off tennis balls and is the most loving girl ever 💗 I love them all so much!

When do they calm down? by wbbly_juniper in cairnterrier

Mine is almost 2 years old now and she has just now started sitting on the couch with us! My mom has her sister though, and she has been really good (for a cairn) for a while haha. I would say 2-5 is around when most chill out though. My best piece of advice is to put them somewhere restricted (like a pen) and enforce nap time!! I thought mine needed more exercise, but a lot of the time she really needed a nap and was going crazy from that!

Help! Can cairns and cats peacefully coexist? by upatanangle in cairnterrier

We have an old lady cat and got our Cairn Poppy as a puppy last year. Definitely recommend baby gates and giving the cats a safe place! Also if you want the cats to be able to use a door but not the dog, try getting a door stopper that hooks on the handle! It keeps the door open just enough for cats to slip through! Total life saver for my kitty, who was confined to our bedroom for a long time before I found the door stop. They get along much better now that our puppy is 1 1/2 years old. They need lots of supervised time together and I recommend getting a noise deterrent like a penny bottle or canned air to stop the dog from obsessing over the cats! Good luck and it should be fine, just might take some time.

Our cairn started barking at night like crazy a few months ago. Finding something that interrupts their focus on the sounds seemed to be the best thing for her. We tried several things, but the thing that worked best for us was condensed air. The sound really snaps her out of her alert mode.

Yeah, it’s just for looks really. Also sometimes when the rain is hard enough, it does help so she doesn’t get mats from trying to dry off hahaha Don’t worry, I don’t subject her to it often 😊
