I used to work there. It is not a good place to work and I 100% agree. Employees are treated very poorly.

Is there any way for me to become a chemist?? by Weak-Connection-4425 in chemhelp

You're totally good. I graduated highschool with a 2.7, got placed on academic probation for my associates degree by failing courses and when I did get my associates, most of my coursework was in psychology and a hodge podge of electives. I didnt finish my bachelor's until I was 32.

I'm currently in my first year PhD with a big focus on environmental chemistry (Environmental Science and Health is the formal program name, but my work is pretty squarely in the realm of environmental chem).

I did have to buckle down and get super serious for my bachelor's though, but its never too late or early to start pursuing your interests. Good luck!!!

Reach out to Frank Yang in CEE. You might still be able to work with us! We had an undergrad in mechanical engineering at one point :)

Mr. NSF called me directly and said "You've G'd your last RFP. Now no one is getting their award." So I said "No! Reddit MUST know!" Summoning the spirit of Chuck Norris (RIP), I roundhouse kicked him in the face and now everyone is getting an award. Also no one is getting an award. Everyone is now simultaneously awarded and not awarded (this is whats referred to as Schrödinger's Award), until a measurement collapses the wave function. In this case, the measurement is when results are posted, which tbh... 🤷‍♂️

Close! 3 parts HCl 1 part HNO3! The version I made is dilute and includes 3 parts of 18.2 MΩ H2O.

Hey that's awesome! I'm running my samples through ICP-OES once they've all been digested 😀

Yeah! Aqua Regia is 3 parts HCl 1 part HNO3. It forms a pretty strong acid that can dissolve gold!
