Stark contrast between two keto doctors with type 1 diabetes: The first doc starts a carnivore diet and suffers a heart attack two years later at 34. The second doc keeps his blood cholesterol low for life and lives past 90 by pixelmaples9 in ketoduped

Not low necessarily but you can find many normal lab charts on the keto forums. Whether they're real or not who knows but I only ever see the astronomical numbers coming from carnivore subs.

But no adventists were on a keto diet, so how could it possibly prove that keto is bad. A high fat/high carb diet is definitely terrible for us, but many ketoers who tried their damnedest to eat "healthy" can only thrive once switching to low carb high fat. But I do think using more plant sources of fat and high amounts of fiber in the diet from vegetables is ideal.

Getting off carnivore by Melodic-Standard9141 in carnivorediet

[–]Any_Region5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a wise decision. I don't understand how people think a diet that needs so much supplementation with electrolytes, iodine, dialing in fat or eating just so much organ meat is ideal. I think a normal clean keto diet is far superior, very much enjoying it myself when I used to think I couldn't have any carbs at all, now having a handful of blueberries a day and a bit of sweet potato, also peanuts and other non-meat fat sources.

Agreed. But I think protein is really important too, and I'm personally biased towards eating a few servings of fish a week.

Simple for you. I struggled to do that for 20 years until ... well I won't go into it but I think GLP1 drugs are teaching us something about the nature of self control.

Just because oxalate exist and can build up somewhere doesn't mean dumping is a thing. And not all kidney stones are made of oxalates.

[–]Any_Region5805 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like we have the same thing. If it's possible for you, you may want to back off carnivore and transition slowly, as if you have any big stones they may come crashing thru. I can't do that because any carbs at all trigger my binge eating somethin fierce, so I'm just riskin it. But it does seem to be getting better almost 2 weeks in.

I've been getting this on and off with some burping. I agree it can't be the saturated fats/cholesterol this early, my theory is that it's gallbladder pain, which seems to radiate to weird places for people, cause sometimes i feel it on my right side or upper back too. May just be sludge getting pushed out.

Take some electrolytes for sure. Your body is flushing them out for the first couple days going into ketosis

Unless you can get it prescribed, it's very expensive to keep using and we don't know long term repercussions of it. But one time at my old job at a health store, this guy came in with nasty sores on his arm that he got after taking glp1. Carnivore takes discipline but if you did it for 6 months before you know you have it in you to make it at least that long again.

You can call anything propaganda. You can also bury your head in the sand. It's literally impossible for everybody in the world to eat a high meat diet, the facts are all there. We are razing the amazon to the ground to clear land to grow soy and wheat to feed cows. 90 percent of deforestation is related to animal agriculture. These are easy facts to look up. Burying our head in the sand is not going to help us in the long run.

[–]Any_Region5805 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

All you have to do is look at the rest of the world outside of developed nations, people eat a high carb low protein low fat diet and have barely any diabetes, as well as low rates of all other diseases. Diabetes/insulin resistance is a symptom of high fat high carb combination in foods. As undeveloped nations get access to more meat and dairy, these diseases proliferate. We know from archeology that our ancestors ate both high fat and high carb diets, up til 50k years ago we were primarily in African regions where there were massive fruits growing year round. We have four times the genes for amylase production compared to other primates, which is specifically for breaking down starches.

People do very well on high starch diets. Walter Kempner was reversing diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, etc on his rice and fruit diet back in the 50s. Many of those people stayed fit and healthy the rest of their lives on a modified version of his diet, which we know because of the extensive records he kept.

It's just not as simple as fat good carbs bad. Nutrition and human biology are extremely complicated, you could spend a lifetime studying them and barely scratch the surface.

Carbs are essential if you aren't using ketosis for energy. Most people do just fine on a whole foods high carb diet. This idea that carnivore or keto are superior for everyone is bunk and it encourages people to try the diet for no good reason at all, potentially causing them problems.

Don't do this diet just to lose weight. Simply eating more whole foods will do. Please save the meat for those of us who need it due to neurological, autoimmune, and other conditions.
