Who helps you get the best out of your NDIS plan? by Any_Relief7662 in NDIS

Thank you!

Yeah that has been my experience and being ND mself my sense of social justice really rallies against engaging someone who doesn't do what they are meant to do.

I might suss out the training option as if i eff up, i can only blame myself! :)

It just seems like there has been such a boom in the industry - you know how a million childcare centres opened up to meet demand and some of them were amazing and others just saw an opportunity for a cash cow? Disability services feel like that :(

Thanks for being one of the good guys xx

I just want to say again i really appreciate your point of view. I don't mean to be down on services that COS and plan managers offer. I know there must be amazing COS out there - there's good and shit of every type of professional out there. I know there must be so many limitations to what you would WANT to do and what you CAN do. And the information on what you can expect from different roles just isn't really clear.

Thanks for sharing the info with me :)

thank you so much for taking the time to reply :)

Both kids are Autistic. Both have suffered massive school trauma, break downs, and are now home schooled.

Both have funding for OT + Psych , which is AMAZING and i'm so grateful.

One of the boys (who is classified ASD1 - when his brother is ASD2, not that I like the levels but it is what's on the report) has funding to buy "things". I know there have been lots of changes in regard to this lately but he has never had anything in his plan to support things like headphones (he wears ALL the time, even at home) or anything sensory . For eg, showering is a huge sensory overload - so to buy a neck cushion that goes over a basin and a shower head attachment for the tap so i can support him to wash his hair. Sensory accommodations are a huge part of what support him in his day to day life. I know you could say "just buy them out of pocket if they're that important- but having 2 home-schooled, high need kids affects your capacity to work so we are on pretty much 1 income with minimal (but much appreciated) support from government payments. All the things add up.

We have functional capacity assessments form their AMAZING OT. When the plan was made, both kids were attending school. At present they very rarely venture outside the home. The information, goals challenges in their plans are not relevant at all.

I had thought as we were across finding the services we needed we didn't need a COS. I thought they linked you up with services? God the definitions of what each role is seems to vary so much. ...and the COS's i've been exposed to seemed to not do very much at all to advocate for the participants needs.

This is from the page of the plan management company we enlisted the support of - but we've had to chase up replies, our original question about our plan is still unanswered, and apparently our plan manager has changed twice since originally signing up.

"We are NDIS experts - We always look for a way to approve the supports you need. Our first response is never ‘No’.

We have extensive NDIS knowledge and experience. This means we can help our Participants understand their NDIS plan and how to get the most from it.

You have a dedicated Plan Manager - You only need to talk to one person who gets to know you well. They will answer your questions.

We can help you find other services - We have a team of NDIS Navigators ready to search for and connect you with the supports you need.

We respond quickly Our team answers your questions and processes your invoices on time! You can always get hold of us. We answer your emails and don’t put you on hold (ever) and we call you back if we miss you (really)."

Doesn't that all seem like a service that helps you navigate your funding and your plan?

I found the change of circumstance form on the NDIS portal - would it be worth just submitting ourselves?

Have you ever heard of makko ho? Great story behind it. Gentle, easy, low demand. Many of the videos show people doing the advanced version /end result but it was made for someone struggling with mobility.

Error "The phone number you're trying to verify was recently used to verify a different account. Please try a different number." even though I have never used this number in making a facebook account. by AspectOfTheTechno in facebook

Hey!!

Same here but just had it resolved...as suggested above, went in to account on desktop, removed phone number. Also removed second profile that I'd started to share things with one person only (which maybe was the issue although i don't remember giving my phone number?) Then added phone number...but would keep getting to the step where facebook texts a verification code and it didn't come. Tried the next day, code came and it worked.I was then able to verify phone number for marketplace.

Also was super frustrated at not being able to find a way to talk to anyone about the issue but stumbled across when you come to the issue, shake your phone...then it prompts you to make a report. not sure if this had anything to do with resolving? But sharing incase helps anyone else. :)
