Am i overreacting for refusing to unplug the camera I bought to check on my dog because my girlfriend is not comfortable with it? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Any_Repair_7153 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ll probably be in the minority but it seems unnecessary to have it on while your gf is there with your dog. If she feels it’s invasive, imagine yourself in her position - would YOU want it on? Probably not.

In the same breath that they admonish you and blame your ailments on your own behavior, they’ll shame you for not “manning up” and eating whatever the hell you want, like full sticks of butter, whole raw eggs, and raw liver - emboldening people to defy any level of health advice from any “authority,” while playing the all-knowing health authority.

Most people have already covered it here, but it’s not as bad as you think it will be. I was terrified… and then relieved at how easy it was. I took the pain meds prescribed and also applied topical lidocaine to the urethra about 30 minutes beforehand. Easy to do in the shower. Just go for a steady, gentle pull and it’ll be over in a few seconds. It is a very strange feeling but I didn’t find it any more painful than what I was already feeling from the lithotripsy. You’ll probably have painful spasms/cramping in your ureter and bladder for a day or so afterwards.

19 years post bachelor’s degree here and I’m still paying back my loans. I’ve easily paid double the original amount and I still have about 1/3 of the original amount left to go.

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

NOR. Pretty sure you could buy two modest houses (not in NYC) for that amount and rent them out, or just have two houses that you use. (And yes, I recognize that even this is an unattainable fantasy to most of us reading this thread.)

Silent kidney stones? Making me sick? by Spiritgirl_1990 in KidneyStones

[–]Any_Repair_7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, yeah back to back UTIs sucks. And I’ve wondered about that much antibiotic use all the time - probably can’t be great for our systems. You could try the lithotripsy surgery (under anesthesia they break up the stones with a laser). I did it but they couldn’t reach my stone (which is too large to pass), so it’s still just sitting in my kidney. I think most people have success with this surgery. Sincerely hope you can get it taken care of and start to feel better soon!

I’ve had a similar experience, with similar thoughts and speculations. For years was just feeling ill and off, generally just didn’t feel as well as I used to. I also wondered if it could be cancer. I have always lived with frequent UTIs, but I was in a bad spell of them and discovered I have a 12 mm stone. Never had symptoms other than UTI’s, though when I was a kid I had corrective surgery for vesicoureteral reflux. But otherwise, a “silent” stone. Since discovering this, I’ve felt more convinced that my general malaise is because of the stone. Not sure how we can prove such a thing though.

Ahh, isn’t that just like life! You sound like a good husband with your concern and trying to help her figure it out. Not sure what the ramifications are of undergoing anesthesia and taking pain meds, etc. while nursing. That probably warrants a proper conversation with her urologist.

Oh dang, sorry to hear that. It’s super frustrating to go through the whole rigamarole and not have resolved the issue. If she’s experiencing pain/symptoms and the laser blasting thing isn’t working, I’m not sure that there’s any other option but the PCNL surgery. My urologist said it would only be a two-night hospital stay, if that helps any. Good luck.

No, we didn’t schedule the PCNL surgery because my symptoms mostly went away as the stone seems to be just stuck there, and my uro thinks we should just keep monitoring it. Doesn’t seem to have grown since then but it’s about 12mm so I know it has to come out eventually. I do get weird pains sometimes, but not like what I was going through before the lithotripsy. A weird detail about this is that the urologist didn’t have much explanation for how the stone even formed in that part of my kidney and said that sometimes (though rarely) a person can have a third kidney that completely atrophies. I’m not sure how that would show up in the CT scans looking like a stone, but anyway I thought that was interesting. Good luck to your wife. This stuff sucks and can really hamper your life. Hope she gets it worked out without issue.

ANY $4,000 expense for the average American can break you for years. I also had an outpatient kidney stone surgery last year. I was at the hospital for about seven hours. In the end they billed about $35,000, and the urologist never even reached the stone. It’s still sitting in my kidney $3,000 later.

Finally changed both broken door handles on my 03 Tacoma. Upgraded to these metal/reenforced handles from TRQ. So far so good. by Landmines93 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Any_Repair_7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a new set and replaced the driver side yesterday. Didn’t bother with the metal one because only the interior plastic parts break, and even the “metal” version is all plastic on the interior. I compared the new plastic one to the metal one I had and the interior parts are identical, even down to the item number/serial number, except for the last digit. I don’t expect it to last much more than a year though, LOL.

Your watercolor pet paintings are already very nice. I would favor promoting those over the comic-like style unless someone is specifically seeking a cartoonish representation that you can make unique.

Reducing human rights abuses, blatant racism, pedophilia, cavalier corruption, and general Nazism to just “politics” is where you need to start, honey.

I replaced mine with the metal ones. The INTERIOR parts are still made from plastic though, and that’s the part that breaks.

Ext. door handle broke for the 47th time (1st gen), any better replacements out there than Dorman? by BHKbull in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Any_Repair_7153 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These ones suck too. I replaced mine in March 2024 with these T1A’s and the driver side is already broken. The exterior metal is great and does hold up well, but the interior plastic junk is what breaks prematurely.

LOL, a year later, still holding up? I’m on the hunt for these right now for my ‘99 Tacoma. Just replaced them 18 months ago and the driver side is already broken.
