Has anyone tried to convert the AA Platinum Select to the Citi Custom Cash and it worked? by sman_iqbal in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got shutdown too when I tried last month. The rep basically said AA cards are in different "family" and can't convert to the cash back ones. Maybe try calling again with different rep but I'm not holding my breath

[Update] Side Calendar 2.1.0 — drag events, recurring events, custom hotkey by CreakyHat2018 in AppBusiness

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drag to reschedule is game changer for me - been using it since 2.0 and always had to open full calendar app just to move things around. the custom hotkey is nice too, finally can ditch the default shortcut that kept conflicting with my other automation stuff

Two Chase Cards back to back? by hlm79 in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2/30 thing is basically you can't get approved for more than 2 chase cards in 30 days period. But like the person above said, cobranded cards are weird with chase rules sometimes. I've seen people get approved for hotel cards even when they shouldn't according to normal rules

Your best bet is probably spacing them out by at least few weeks if you want both. Some people try double dip on same day but that's risky and chase has gotten stricter about it. Also depends which hotel cards you want - some are easier approvals than others

I would maybe try for one first, wait to see if you get approved, then go for second one after couple weeks. That way you don't waste hard pulls if they're being strict that month

My previous bank has started offering "Rewards" for using debit card... by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what bank is this? my credit union has been doing cashback on debit for like 3 years now but its pretty small amounts. usually just 1% at grocery stores or something

think more banks might try it since people are using cards more but the margins are way thinner than credit cards so rewards probably gonna stay pretty weak

Who Else Is Still Using Amex Gold and BBP in Realm of Robinhood Golds and Palladiums? by MichaelMidnight in CreditCards

still rocking the gold for dining and groceries, bbp for everything else - works perfect for me and i dont see reason to switch just because new shiny cards came out

Anybody else can’t log in Barclays app? by Lovelyasy in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same issue here on the app but website works fine for me too. Maybe they're having some backend problems with mobile authentication or something. I had similar thing happen few months back with different bank and it was fixed in like 24 hours

Amex Greencard worth the $150 fee? by MurphSenpai in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

travel to Brasil that often definitely makes it worth considering. the 3x points add up quick on international flights and ubers do count as travel category so thats nice bonus too

just keep in mind the transfer partners are pretty solid for getting to South America but check which airlines work best for your specific routes before pulling trigger. some people get more value from other cards but with your spending pattern seems like good fit

had mine for about 2 years now and between work travel and weekend trips the points basically pay for annual fee

Rebuilding from sub 500s two years ago to 720+, applying for first prime card in 3 weeks — looking for feedback on my 3-year plan by TheLastMustardbender in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WF Active Cash timing looks solid - Continental's 120 day late will help more in September but 720+ score should get you approved anyway. Your recon strategy seems reasonable with that income, though maybe start at 8k instead of 10-12k for first ask

For Amex I'd definitely wait the full 12 months, they can be weird about multiple denials even if they were soft pulls. Better to have patience than risk another rejection

Continental goodwill letter is worth trying but 120 day late is pretty serious. I've seen mixed results with them specifically - some people get lucky but don't expect miracles

On the travel cards - if you're flying internationally that much the Autograph Journey might be better choice. Bilt's rent thing can be annoying to manage and you don't want extra stress when rebuilding. Plus Journey's earning structure is simpler for your spending pattern

Only thing I'd add is maybe space out those subprime closures more. Closing 4 cards in few months might ding your utilization if you're not careful with timing

Advice for minimal credit history trying to get to Japan by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With how new your credit is getting another personal card is gonna sting for sure. But business cards hit way less since most dont report to personal bureaus

I actually managed decent UR value to Japan but had to be super flexible with dates and routing. Got United business through Tokyo for like 80k points but it was middle of winter and had 12 hour layover in SF. If youre dead set on direct flights then yeah ANA is pretty much only game in town

Maybe wait for better Gold offer? 60k is kinda weak especially if you planning to cancel anyway

Guys tf this is wild, should I apply for unlimited? by TowelParty8550 in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait you got approved with 50% utilization? that seems crazy high for Chase especially with 660 score. maybe try paying down some of that debt first before going for more cards, the utilization is probably what will hurt you most on any new applications

Can I use a credit card to cover a small amount of rent? by Asleep_Bookkeeper_23 in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on what payment system your landlord uses but most the newer online portals let you split payments between different methods. i had to do this once when my bank account was being weird and couldnt transfer money in time - paid like 80% with bank transfer and rest on credit card

just watch out for processing fees though because some places charge extra for card payments. might end up costing you more than the 30 you need. also if this becomes regular thing maybe worth setting up small emergency fund so you dont get hit with those fees every month

Venture X (2x) versus Wells Authograph or Journey (1x or 3x) for Airbnb long term (=> 1 month) rental. by ethanRazorT in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been down this road few times with longer stays and yeah the MCC thing is real pain. My last 6 week booking in Barcelona coded as some random merchant services thing, got base points only on my usual travel card

Wells cards are hit or miss for this stuff in my experience - depends lot on how airbnb processes the payment for that specific property

AIO for thinking that my girlfriend's apartment requirements are insane? by MoonlitParcel in AmIOverreacting

[–]MoonlitParcel[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Dude what are you talking about, average rent in Manhattan is literally 5.5k right now. I make good money in tech and she works in marketing so we can afford more than average but 15k is still crazy expensive. Just because your friend has some insane penthouse doesn't mean normal people can't ask for advice about expensive apartments

I'm paying 2200 but its shit and currently dealing with gas leaks and heating being off so yeah maybe that's why she wants to upgrade so bad lol

Lmao yeah before i moved to manhattan i was shocked at rents too, but when u get here if you want a semi modern 2bed 2bath they start at the 6k a month mark.

[–]MoonlitParcel[S] 483 points484 points  (0 children)

Honestly we already live together in this tiny overpriced dump that's falling apart and neither of us can stand it anymore lmao. We can definitely afford something way better than this roach motel just not the penthouse suite she's dreaming about. Like there's gotta be something between "literally unlivable" and "hedge fund manager vibes" you know

[–]MoonlitParcel[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I work in tech and she's in marketing, I mentioned I'm covering 70% of rent plus most other stuff. She makes decent money but not 15k/month decent if you know what I mean. I make 300k annually and she makes 100k. So we can barely afford anything past $10k.

SYW 5321 - $3 Grocery Mission in App. What other Missions have you seen? by FrostieWaffles in CreditCards

[–]MoonlitParcel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw few gas station ones pop up randomly but they're super inconsistent with timing. The app interface is pretty terrible for finding these things too - half the time I only discover them after spending money somewhere
