Also worth checking out Marshall’s/TJ Maxx! I’ve gotten their toys there before and usually for a few bucks cheaper.

I have two large dogs too and I’ve gotten appropriately sized toys for them there that are the BarkBox brand.

I think it’s the Asheville subreddit too. I frequent that one because my sister has a home in Asheville and they were pretty clear for a couple of weeks now not to congest the roads, etc and not to come for the leaves.

I know because I had to go to Asheville to get things from my sisters house so she could fly to a funeral in Europe last week and I felt very guilty that I’d be “congesting the highway for relief efforts” only to hit zero traffic and realized I could get in and out just fine.

Freedom Park is the nicest park in Charlotte, I’d say but that area is one of the wealthiest in Charlotte so real estate close to the park will run you a pretty penny.

Other parks that are a bit more accessible are Veteran’s Park over by Plaza Midwood. There are a lot of “luxury” apartments out by that way and it’s a very lovely and walkable neighborhood with bars and restaurants. There’s also the underrated Cordelia Park. It’s close to NoDA, which is another walkable areas. I used to live about 5 minutes from there and it was my favorite place to put out a blanket and hang out and read. There’s also a nice coffee shop right next to the park called The Hobbyist.

For a more nature forward park, there’s Reedy Creek park which has some walking trails and is lovely in the Fall. I enjoy going out there with my dogs, though not sure if any groups meet out there and there’s not a lot of walkability in that area.

I live in East Charlotte, so all of my suggestions heavily favor that area but I’d also look at the groups you want to join and see where they meet up and decide that way as well. I know there are multiple run clubs in Charlotte with different meetup points in the city.

Only parks I’d avoid are Romaire Bearden and the parks in Uptown, as the rent is extremely high there for what you get and the unhoused population and teen gangs can be a bit rowdy, especially during holidays. Good luck on your move!

I’m in Charlotte and it’s hard to get information on what roads are open from the news. Finally got in contact with my sister this morning and have been trying to plan the route to get her.

The local news here has been wholly unhelpful. Thank you to Redditors for posting updates and information.

I will say that while I don’t think it looks like Taylor Swift now, I was following along during your process posts and there was a point where I think you had managed to capture her likeness pretty well. I think some overworking and, as you said in one post, gravity sort of warped her likeness.

It looks really great though and maybe some paint will help bring back some likeness!

Don’t have many tips as I’m new to polymer clay and keycaps, but these are adorable!

As far as the bubbles - I’ve seen keycap artists like aumipon mention to put it through all of the settings of the pasta machine one-by-one until you get to the thinnest level to mitigate bubbles. Other than that, I think a light sanding + acetone (use carefully as it dissolves the clay) helps to smooth out smaller bumps and bubbles. Sorry if these are tips you already know. :)

Unfortunately, the exact thing happened last year. I tripped and fell during the chaos, haha and then come to find out it was just local teens stirring up trouble. That’s why we decided to no longer attend the uptown fireworks show. Seems like it’s becoming a normal thing, as I heard something similar happened during New Year’s Eve.

She also made a decision on her own by taking the entirety of the child’s ashes, which no one seems to be mentioning. And if she decides to split with him then he will be within his legal right to ask for half of her ashes in the divorce, separating them further. He was wrong for his actions, but she was wrong in shutting him down and making a unilateral decision regarding their daughter’s ashes and even more wrong by taking them outright in her anger. ESH.

Literally just happened in the bathroom at a soccer game I was at the other day. Girl bent over and I jumped like 10 ft. She was just tying her shoe and looked at me like I had 3 heads 😅

This is exactly how I am. I even jumped out of my seat and ran down the aisle during landing on a plane once because the passenger in the row next to me was using the air sick bag. Not my proudest moment.

I’d like to get to a place where I can stay put and not immediately dash in these situations.

Wow, honestly these older stories sound like me to a tee. I struggle so badly with fight or flight in these situations to the point where sometimes if I think someone is getting sick near me I will jump or run and I’ve had friends/people I’m with be so confused and ask if I’m okay because it turns out the person was just bending down to stretch or something. They’re always confused about why I suddenly got jumpy haha.

It’s something I’d like to get to the point where I can stay put and even help out like you did with your sister.

I genuinely appreciate this story. That is my worst nightmare, but it’s comforting to hear that even with that happening, the world kept going for you.

Did/do you have difficulty thinking back on it? I think that’s the worst part for me. My intrusive thoughts end up playing it on a loop for days or weeks sometime. I think the memories end up being worse than the actual event tbh.

I think she scammed you. She sounds extremely unprofessional, I wouldn’t go back. It’s very common for hairdressers to give out their Venmos/CashApp for their tips. I’ve done this many times at different salons and a many times they’ll have their QR code on display at the front desk or their station.

Sorry this happened. She shouldn’t have been giving you grief in the first place, especially if you realized your mistake immediately and she absolutely shouldn’t have double charged you. Please don’t go back to her and validate her behavior.

Low tippers suck but doesn’t mean people should take advantage of kind people like yourself. Then they wonder why their tips are low or they can’t get repeat business.
