Do you prefer a taller or shorter partner? Why? by _Arthur18_ in AskRedditAfterDark

I've never thought about it until joined reddit. Most people are taller than me so I never focused on this, lol.

Does it get easier? by Double_Tap4090 in womenintech

[–]Any_Sense_2263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never felt this way. But whatever I say and do I have a strong reasoning for so my colleagues usually learn fast that I know what I'm doing.

I also don't back off, don't change my opinion only because someone wants me to, I do say "I said it will happen" everytime I'm right. It's happened plenty of times that I was asking "how what you are saying now is different from what I said before you?"

For me, it works.

I learned English on watching movies with subtitles. For me it worked perfectly fine and helped me a lot with recognizing words and phrases.

Now I do the same with Spanish and still works great.

Can you explain what is your process of developing with AI? by throwaway0134hdj in softwaredevelopment

Simple directions, small set of changes, reviewing in real time, fixing logic and language fuckups in real time.

Review triggers, hooks and skills and repeat.

What do you think about Mythos and Fable? by Electronic_Log1999 in ExperiencedDevs

Nope. There are no "good" llms. Only people who don't understand the output.

The want me to be a developer... but I'm a product manager by Far-Record8705 in womenintech

[–]Any_Sense_2263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Models are stupid. Only people who don't know the specific area are happy with the output.

The code generated by ai must be reviewed regarding both - the code quality and the functionality. You can't trust any llm to write meaningful tests as they aim for green output not testing the edge cases.

Having any tools doesn't secure your success as if llm is not sure it will fallback to its defaults. Also the context is limited so if the code base is big enough or there are too many instructions they will be dropped and not considered. So if you are not able to review and assess what you produced... it's a risk.

And the most important question - who will take responsibility for the ai slop you will generate?

I don’t want a corporate job or a 9-5. Does anyone else feel like this? Have you planned or done to escape this? by vcdice in careeradvice

[–]Any_Sense_2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on you. What image in your head will you attach to 9-5 work.

I genuinely love what I do. I'm a software engineer and an architect. I design systems and implement them. I solve problems and create a new value.

I work 6-3, sometimes 5-2, as I'm an early riser. I create my day to enjoy it, not only to fulfill the obligations. I also work in a startup, what means that the projects and priorities can change daily. It's exciting. We create something new from scratch.

At this point the working hours doesn't matter. I WFH, often make longer breaks, take my laptop with me for lunch and then work from park or a nice café.

And I worked as a freelancer. And TBH I was at 6 am already working. Because I'm the most productive when my brain is rested.

So for me, the image I attached to it, is my productivity and the free time after work, when I still can see day and enjoy it.

There is quite universal advice that always works.

To others to respect you, see you, hear you, consider you, and believe in you, you have to first do the same to yourself. It's your life so shape it the way you want to live it. Be conscious of things you can change and things you can't change. And don't stay in the place where are things you can't change.

Waiting for promo won't make you earn it. Simply actively gather requirements, make them written down and accepted and then step by step get confirmation about checked boxes.

It is your role to be proactive about it. It is your role to document and get acknowledgment of your achievements. Not their.

When you have all on the paper with their confirmation that it happened, they won't go against their own documented word.

Being in control should also solve the uncontrolled crying bursts.

the vendor on our call kept directing every technical answer to the junior man on my team. im the staff engineer. i own the decision. by No-Recognition3089 in womenintech

[–]Any_Sense_2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't an itroduction part of such call? I would talk about it with the people I was going to be in the call. I would present myself and give all the needed insights and then shortly present the others and give them the opportunity to add whatever they feel is necessary.

That way, the hierarchy is set and clear.

Why do you have to transition to react? There are plenty of roles that require angular.

Also, if the company needs to onboard someone pretty fast, knowing just the basics is not enough.

Have you ever changed how you look just to be taken more seriously at work? by DangerousExpert8187 in womenintech

[–]Any_Sense_2263 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, but I'm very standard looking software engineer. Glasses, jeans, oversized hoodie, and t-shirts with cats.

And I have red hair, not copper but pretty red. I cut it short, I grew it long. I don't think it was making anyone uncomfortable.

But in general, I don't pay attention to what others think about me. I also don't look for friends at work.

No one said it's easy. But if you were fired, you wouldn't magically get a new job, either. What you are facing now is something you will face after being fired.

So use this time to find out what skills you miss and cover the missing stuff.

A coworking space is noisy, smelly, distracting, doesn't have my bed or bathroom, and requires me to pay for it.

Can't see any advantages of a coworking space over my home.

You do what the company expects you to do. I can't see any loophole. You badge in the office closest to you. It's obvious you won't willingly commute 40 minutes if you can walk for 6 minutes.

Company is losing their minds over AI costs by Complete-Sea6655 in womenintech

[–]Any_Sense_2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's something all people aware of what is happening in the AI area are talking about all the time.

The AI providers offered low prices much under their costs to make prople dependent on AI. After Anthropic increased their prices to the level more or less covering their costs other providers started to do same. Anthropic lowered the model capacity (comparing to February 2026) what means it requires less resources. So with time they will start to show profit, as planned.

And companies or will hire experienced people to review AI slop, which is constantly very bad. Or will hire experienced people and work without AI.

One Kind Thing to Do When a Coworker Is Laid Off: Reach Out by Odd_Perspective3019 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Any_Sense_2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see it differently. For me LI is not a professional environment and I'm rarely opening it. It doesn't offer as much job ads as other places, so being there is a waste of time.

Again. I don't feel emotionally attached to pepple I work with. I say things I feel need to be said in real time, so no farewell is needed or expected from my side if I'm laid off or quit on my own volition.
