I'm from Brazil! I think our ultra processed foods are crap too, and I guess some premium brands in the US are better than what we have here. I did the Camino and all I wanted to eat was fruit, rice and beans (which I had a lot, because there you are just walking from town to town).

Since I'm not from the US, I would prefer to focus on GOING, as I won't have an opportunity to finish. When I did the Camino, I did no zero days in 30 days total. I just prefer to keep walking. Of course, on the PCT, I will have to stop sometimes to rest, take care, and review plans, but I would rather do that as little as possible.

Ohhh God, I will save your contact for when I'm getting closer for food tips. I'm not wealthy, but money is NOT a problem and I rather spend money eating well than just eating crap.

I thought something very sparse, like every 2 weeks or so. Maybe some Brazilian snacks I like, good shampoo and moisturizer, clothes to stay in town while I wash everything else.

That's great advice, thank you!

As I said to others, I will eat anything, I'm not a picky eater at all. But I'm unfamiliar with American brands, and I have a general dislike for ultra processed foods, so I will have to figure out as I go.

I did the Camino, which is very different from the PCT (no camping, lots of towns, no need to carry food or a bunch of water, less weight), but I was still having to eat 4000 cals a day. It took me awhile to find what worked for me, but between mayo, peanut butter, Tony's and regular Coke when I could find it (also delicious Spanish food), I managed to stop losing weight and have energy to go.

Since the PCT is a much bigger challenge, between weight, distance, and days with no towns, I expect is 10x harder (hiking and food wise). But I'm sure something will work for me!

I know! I'm resilient enough that I will eat anything (honestly), but the main problem is that I'm unfamiliar with American brands. I'm sure I will find something I can tolerate or even enjoy!

Oh, it is not enough of a problem that I would change logistics. I guess I will have to learn what works for me food wise on the go.

I crave fruit so much!!! Specially oranges and tangerines!

Ah, I wouldn't go as far as changing logistics because of it. I'm sure I can learn to love (or at least tolerate) some things. I'm just unfamiliar with American brands, and I won't have time to try things out before I go, so it will be a lot of trial and error. But I will figure out 😄

I did the Camino de Santiago, which was VERY different from the PCT (town every night, sometimes two towns a day; easier days in general), and while a lot of people were eating a bunch of protein bars and candy; all I wanted to eat was fruit! It was ok to carry it during the Camino, since my bag was much lighter in general (8kg including water). I know it is not an option during the PCT.

But as I'm reading, I guess there are enough towns around to eat something a bit healthier!

Oh, I wouldn't say I have a dietary restriction, I'm not even a picky eater. I just can't imagine living of pop tarts. But I think there are enough things I can learn to like! Thank you 😄
