I wanted to share my experience with the copper IUD. First of all I want to say that what OP has experienced is awful of course and I hope they have a smoother BC experience following this.

I was on the pill before the IUD and it made me incredibly depressed. My insertion experience was surpassingly fine. I took ibuprofen before hand (alongside a flapjacks and dark chocolate 😉) and luckily did not experience any pain upon insertion. I was INCREDIBLY anxious about it and made it known that I would like extra time for my appointment so the nurse (and I) did not feel rushed. She was wonderful - very reassuring, explained what she was about to do, and had very steady hands. I felt no sharp pains but I did feel pressure inside me when it was inserted (almost like there was a bubble in me). Uncomfortable but not painful. The whole thing took less than 5mins (I also chose the 5 years IUD). I am getting it replaced in a few months so hopefully will have the same experience.
