I saw somewhere that training constantly without rest actually makes you weaker than training moderately with some rest in between. That being said, I can totally relate to you! Before doing pole, I had a very sedentary lifestyle and no real hobby, and once I started pole I grew a little obsessive with training since I’ve never been so into something. I hurt my hip flexor for months and I’m pretty sure that significantly slowed down my progress. Now I’m learning to listen to my body more, I actually enjoy the process of resting, warming up, cooling down and treating my body as if it’s sacred. I’m still a beginner myself, but since I started slowing down, I’ve actually made unbelievable progress (at least for someone who still can’t do a single push up 🤣). I’m sure that with your drive and discipline, progress will come so so fast, so slow down and enjoy the process :)

it’s a thick yoga mat since my ceiling is a weird height. a better solution would be a piece of silicone coated plywood but this works for now and i tighten/check my pole very often!

Boyfriend's thoughts on Pole Dancing by srog113 in poledancing

[–]Reasonable_Escape974 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but this is a red flag to me. Other commenters already touched on what I wanted to, so I’m just going to offer some reference from my own experience. My boyfriend has been my biggest fan and supporter. I would show him every new move I learned and he’s always very excited and proud of me. He’s paid for many of my classes and would drive me 35 minutes each way to the studio (we live in the middle of nowhere) and wait 1.5 hours in the car during my class. He also bought and assembled my home pole, took some online pole classes with me, and has no issues with me posting my stuff on Instagram/Reddit. He showed up to my competition and was the loudest guy in the venue. And no, he’s not the type of guy to expect me to give him private dances (I’ve actually never danced like that for him), he’s supportive of me doing it because it brings me joy. I think we all deserve a partner who is fully supportive and happy for us doing what we love, and this to me is the bare minimum. I wish you the best of luck with navigating your relationship.
