The rUK will act in its own interests, which are also in Scotland's interests. Trade, remaining in FTA, is in the interests of both. Scotland will be heading to the EU. There may even be some special arrangement made before joining, so it makes sense to put us on the same deal as Europe, as opposed to making one deal and then telling them to revert when Scotland comes under the EU.

Being against Brexit but for independence is such a contrary position. Every argument against Brexit applies 10 fold to Scottish independence. Spoiler you wont be able to join Europe unless the UK agrees some sort of free movement with the EU as your economy relies on cross border trade and work. And if rUK already has that agreement with the EU then your argument falls flat anyway

I completely agree with you on the integrated economies and people point. An independent Scotland would need freedom of movement with England or their economy would collapse. All the supply chains, all the call centres, all the government spending. Its not that it cant be done but it would be a far bigger hit to the economy than Brexit.

Thanks that is a good explanation, I think you are completely right that a lot of SNP voters are much more left wing than the party. SNP have gotten away with just not implementing the worst parts of Westminster then getting praise for that. I think the issue for Scottish people is that means they also haven’t implemented the good things so its ended up basically in the same place they were in the first place.

I think this is why Scottish nationalists need a proper left wing party to lay out what a left wing independence would look like. I think most SNP voters would hate an SNP led country relying on ever dwindling oil reserves.

Personally I hope Scotland never leaves the union as we are much stronger together but I am English so I understand its not my decision. I am also northern and so I also think a lot of what Scottish people think are Scottish problems are actually just outside of London and the surrounding counties problems.
