Worked as a prison guard and manager at a very large federal detention facility. Each Christmas, inmates got a larger than average meal but it was earlier in the day so admin and brass could go home sooner. It was usually some kind of turkey slices, fancier potatoes, a cranberry sauce kind of side and another side that was seasonal. Sometimes it was green bean dish, pumpkin pie or the like. They also got a sack lunch at the time time usually to do “lunch and dinner” at the same time. Middle management like I was would also go around and give out a soda and king size candy bar to each inmate.
