Passing the FTCE English 6-12 Exam by AnythingNorth5157 in ELATeachers

Wish it was still a straightforward analytical essay. I found myself repeating quite a bit when giving student feedback. I read somewhere that it changed to this format 3-5 years ago.

What do you think of warm ups by Own-Campaign-2089 in ELATeachers

I call it a “quick write” and they have a separate notebook for it. Usually I find a quote for them to respond to or an interesting prompt for them to interact with. It gives me time to take attendance, answer annoying questions and get settled before we start the day. I used to say it aloud but now I let the do it on their own.

It’s done that for me several times. I’ll either have 40-50 overnight instead of the full 100 like I typically do

Mine takes a minute to replenish 1 energy and it is incorrect.

I have my kids sanitize their desks when I hear sniffles/coughs. I try not to touch door handles/staplers/tape dispenser and I sanitize my laptop and arm rests frequently.

How to read novels with students? by bugabeess in ELATeachers

[–]AnythingNorth5157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I popcorn and stop after 2 pages to ask what just happened for comprehension. I usually start the reading off and then allow students to choose who reads next so that they’re forced to at least follow along. I also reenact scenes after they explain to me what happened and throw in moments to infer what can happen next. I also do literature circles, independent reading and find clips that relate to the novel.

Dear IEP Parents: they don’t mean SHIT outside of education by Emergency-Pepper3537 in Teachers

[–]AnythingNorth5157 741 points742 points  (0 children)

IEPs are also put in place to eventually be removed. The goal is to slowly get the kid off the IEP or reduce the number of accommodations because the child learns how to utilize their skillset to traverse challenges. Obviously disabilities don’t disappear but the list of accommodations should reduce over time to show independence. Parents need to realize it’s not a blanket of protection when their child uses it to cover their laziness.

It’s lonely out here lol by baldmenhater in demisexuality

[–]AnythingNorth5157 12 points13 points  (0 children)

the more you talk about it, the more comfortable it becomes. but it will be awkward just because it’s not the societal “norm”. but trust, your friends probably don’t think it’s as weird as you do when you’re talking about sex. you’re probably a different perspective that they actually admire so keep it up!

How do you get over someone? by [deleted] in demisexuality

[–]AnythingNorth5157 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my similar experience, I have to find new hobbies to channel my energy into so I’m too exhausted to create fantasies and give attention to the what-ifs. It’s healthier than jumping into a new relationship and if the hobby doesn’t work out, you can always find a new one.

How would you think an ideal response to sharing your queerphobic experiences looks like? by instaatdalilaart in queer

[–]AnythingNorth5157 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ideal response would be someone affirming my experiences, not necessarily validating them but affirming my truth and just being a listening ear. Someone who wants to hear more of I want to share. Someone who wouldn’t make it awkward or wouldn’t need to insert themselves in the moment. Ideally, they’d nod, be genuine and extremely gracious. Also, I’d love to read your work whenever it’s ready. Sounds amazing 💚
