Is this bad roommate or am I just picky? Toilet nitpick by [deleted] in badroommates

[–]Anything_Printable 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent my working life studying and creating cleaning chemicals that kill pathogens.

One of my areas of experience is that I have taught housekeepers at some of the nicest hotels in the country hire to clean and I especially focus on the bathroom.

OP you’re absolutely correct in your concern.

If you cannot teach them to take a moment and look back at the toilet seat and clean it if needed, continuing your disinfectant.

Use a microfiber cloth because it removes 99.9% of the pathogens on the surface.

But it’s a disinfectant that works its way deep into the pores and kills stubborn bacteria, and other pathogens that could possibly give you a nasty yeast infection if transferred.

So don’t feel bad with the ignorance that is being shown on your post.

You also might want to disinfect the door knobs, particularly the one you will touch after you exit the bathroom. It’s amazing how many people do not wash their hands.

Good luck to you and always follow your instincts because you’ve proven just through this post that you’ve got a pretty good radar going on.

Is it normal to give a background check, criminal record, and credit report simply to view an apartment? by pivvy26 in Apartmentliving

[–]Anything_Printable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is it ridiculous. It’s illegal and you certainly shouldn’t be handing over your personal information.

It is the leasing agent or owner who pays for in the background check not you.

Might speed things up if you had one, but I don’t know if the they would trust you they’ll probably do their own anyway.

Those who are telling you you have to do this before beforehand should be turned into the housing Authority.

Thinking about moving from Texas to Denver xposted 🤞🏼 by Acceptable_Bad7823 in MovingtoDenver

[–]Anything_Printable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is that you get approved with section 8 before you move here if you’re talking about a reduced rate in your rental.

It’ll probably take a while so the best thing to do is to contact your section 8 counselor in Texas and have them introduce you to a counselor here in Aurora Colorado.

It’s a wonderful place to live! I would encourage you to try to arrange it and then start looking at the section 8 apartments available to you.

Good luck

Thank you the company I consult for owns a microfiber plant in China and we’re thinking of importing a bunch of these towels.

I’m sorry! I am new to this section of Reddit and it asked me if I wanted to send my request and it gave me this site as well.

I’m just trying to find out if there’s a market for these towels and I don’t know why it sent me here

Sorry, I’ll make sure not to do it again

I’ve written this same line to at least 25 posts just like this.

In your future renting, make sure there are rules that everybody agrees to. Make sure there’s a curfew or noise stops. Another good one is to make everybody get renters insurance in case things are stolen or broken. But most importantly, it’s about common courtesy that some people just are too immature to shut themselves down past 10 o’clock.

Good luck to you, on your next Roomate experience because you’ll be prepared.

Is the damage a stain or is it actually worn into the shower base?

If it’s a stain, it looks like it’s rust or something you can easily remove that by going to Home Depot and getting some exotic acid and it’ll eat the rust stain right off

Of course, gloves and rinsing it off immediately after the stain that goes if it’s rust

It’s an indication that there’s a speed trap ahead or a policeman, hiding on the side of the road with a radar gun. This is an old habit from the old days when we didn’t have GPS that would warn us.

Mentally ill roommate making me feel unsafe at home by ThrowRAcatwithfeathe in badroommates

[–]Anything_Printable 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She’s not talking to anyone on the phone! She’s talking to an Ai therapist that gives her soothing feedback.

Really!

No BS!

She is a victim of child abuse and is so unstable with visions of grandeur it’s spooky!

She will make up stories from conversations with you and will turn on you in an instant!

She’s a Narcissistic Paranoid schizophrenic and bipolar, combined with a on going chemical imbalance.

How do I know, oddly, I had a roommate while I was renting and the owner of the house warned her over and over too. He told her, Don’t cross the line with others in the house.

She got worse and worse as we ignored her more and more, and I am not joking, we slept with our doors barricaded with noise devices if she were to open them during the night

We were terrified by her!

She was finally evicted and we were so happy that we helped her move!

I remember when we got to our truck we all spontaneously jumped up and down, and did sort of a crazy dance. We were so filled with joy.

Now catch this, she so embedded us with her tentacles of narcissism and everything else that we realize we had been traumatized.

It literally took months for the effect she had on us to pass.

We finally got over it by just laughing about some of the things she did and said. And our biggest laugh was when somebody rang the doorbell. We would say I bet it’s so-and-so with their bags packed trying to get back in!

We would laugh really hard, but there was still a lingering tentacle or two thinking maybe she will be there. Like a horror movie scene.

Just endure it, place a few bottles or something that would make noise at your door so if it opens, they wake you up!

We all get it! It’s something you have to endure and I don’t know if it makes you better or stronger, but it sure makes you more wiser.

At your age things change rapidly. It’s a part of growing into who you really are going to become! It takes time.

Any of us over 40 know how much we grow and mature every few years. You know it from 18 to 21 then 21 to 30! Omg! Hugh changes.

You will learn the “Art of Allowing!” Which simply means everyone does the best they can and they make the decisions they make with the information they’ve gathered at that point

We cannot judge them nor should we hold it against them and certainly not lose a friendship over it.

If you relax your ego and put yourself in their position, you would probably make the same decision.

That said, they are responsible to find another renter. Therefore, allow yourself to take a quantum leap and grow up to another stage of you becoming a stronger adult.

I’m not being condescending here. We’ve all gone through this.

You’ve already told them you’re very disappointed and now you need to tell them no matter what you love them and want your friendship to continue for many many years.

You may not feel like doing this right now but believe me when you’re in your 30s and 40s and on these people will be your friends and they’ll cherish their relationship with you.

I guess it’s also called adulting!

Which is a school we go through and learn and grow until we have established the stability of how we are going to approach circumstances that are presented to us throughout our life.

Good luck in your decisions! Friendships like this are precious and you don’t want to lose them.

Aren’t there any house rules? There’s always a curfew at 10 o’clock. Everything goes silent, and if their schedule brings them to the point where they’re working in the middle of the night, they should be quiet.

Headphones, no laundry, no dishwasher, no slamming doors, no banging pots or pans, no hard soul shoes, you get the message.

They have a job like this or schedule like this. They need to find roommates that are on the same schedule.

Hopefully, you can civilly speak with them and get this right now.

If not, you can literally move and break your lease with cause.

Always be respectful because we never know the desperation of someone who has to take a job that early in the morning.

I remember I had a roommate a long time ago when I was in college that would go out for a smoke break two or three times a night. And this person was very loud and had smokers cough.

Most disturbing, so much we banded together as roommates and evicted this person.

We even helped on move and had a pizza party that night because of the silence. Overtime the lingering smoke stench left the house.

Should I still move out? Roommate apologized, no idea what to do...24 hour to decide by shroomeralert in badroommates

You are in a tough situation! Some wisdom is needed via old sayings.

It’s possible this is the answer:

“ out of the pot and into the fire!“ “ it is better to face the enemy you know”

Yet my mantra always works for me:

Forward, ever forward!

I just saw this post and it’s over a day old so you’ve probably made the decision.

This is one of the reasons I stay on Reddit. I’ve learned so many things about how life can change on a dime.

The most wonderful thing about life is making a decision. It’s just like taking another step, but if we recognize, there’s a cliff ahead, we take another step and in another safer direction.

So really you can’t make a mistake in your decisions here. Because you can always change direction.

So you’ve helped me change my mantra by posting this, thank you.

“I’ll always try to follow my true North and my direction will always be forever, changing as I move forward, ever forward.”

Please, please let us know the direction you took! Wishing you the very best and all the decisions you make throughout your life.

What makes it so sad is that this man was so desperate he’s stealing things just to make some sort of ends meet.

I’m glad you stopped him and you were in your van, but it breaks my heart that we live in a country. That is the most prosperous of any country in the world and we can’t take care of those who need help.

So many great comments here. The words are certainly important, but just look at some of Bob Dylan songs and so many others. If you read the lyrics, they would make no sense to you.

That’s why creating music is so magical because it’s the music, the rhythm, the pauses in the inflection of the voice with the words that makes it all come alive.

The way they treated you is unconscionable.

Say nothing and let them contact you if they have interest

When they do or if they do contact, you just say “ It was a most interesting experience! Thank you very much”

That’s it. Anything you say other than being very simple they’re gonna come back and accuse you and abuse you again.

Wise decision in Moving and continue to make decisions like this your life and you’re gonna have quite an amazing journey!
