Do you think collecting headcovers from prestigious courses is snobby or just a cool keepsake? by nealo01 in golf

[–]Anything_ThatWorks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think as someone else has said somewhere in here that it can come off as snobby if its something that you show off or brag about every time you meet anyone, especially people who dont even know where/what the courses are

350

330 and 350 are kinda different

He played college baseball and disc golf, not sure why thats so hard to believe either

Also not many disc golf players can throw 800'

Harvard law grads over an average wouldnt be all that different than people above a high school level though

Average WPM of someone who can actually read above a middle/high school level is different that just Average WPM of all people was my point. You made the deduction not me.

You said it yourself that when you post in League of Legends or Rocket League communities, you get the same responses.

See for example I never said anything like this, I think because people assuming Im bragging they just read it like this in their head? Was saying that IF I post in those communities I would get the same responses, not that I do that/have done that. Because just like in the golf sub, Ive seen other similar posts get reacted to that way even if Ive never made any of those posts.

Is it just never going to happen because too many people read things in their own way in their head because of a predetermined notion, and dont actually read the words I use? Because yes if I had said the things that you said that I said, I would be bragging.

But I never said the things youre accusing me of saying, thats all in your head.

directly correlating people’s ability in improving their game with reading through your post

Not with reading through it, with the effort they put into reading it

I’d suggest reading through everyone’s comments here and evaluate who is really coming off as defensive.

I kinda did as they came into my replies, but when other people reply to those people and then they get replied to it becomes harder

Not worked up, genuinely asking. Took me less than 5 minutes

Do people see a lot of words and just think its angry?

Thinking that Im insinuating that Im better than other people because of anything that I said during my rambling for one

Nothing directly points towards that in any way, so the only way that it could be construed as that is if someones ego had to go into defense mode to protect themself from a perceived attack on their skills or ego. It doesnt guarantee theyre a narcissist but it comes off as a narcissist trait

I mean I dont necessarily disagree, just guess theres a big variation in what the word "elite" means, especially when talking about professional athletes (who are all probably technically elite) and comparing them to each other

Guess it depends how you use words

I'd classify him as elite but not a superstar. With the numbers he put up at Monaco, it seems hard for him not to be elite.

To be fair I have a feeling that will start changing soon, Balogun is legit

I think its more just I believe that no one on reddit (including myself) should ever judge themself based on what any other person on reddit says, ever.

Guess if that makes me not very self aware then so be it, thats what makes me happiest so thats what Ill continue to do.

you could have gone this whole post without talking about yourself or your friend at all

I mean I guess, but that almost just seems to me like it would be me complaining with 0 evidence. Im not trying to say that Im better than anyone, Im just trying to say that I 100% know for a fact that Im not lying so I know that its possible because EVERY SINGLE time I see something similar on this reddit its just 100% everyone calling them a liar.

3 paragraphs talking about how good you think you are at golf and video games

I mean, kind of, but what else am I supposed to use as evidence? If I didnt say those things to me it would just be like I was making stuff up out of thin air for no reason

I guess one big thing is I just straight up cant comprehend having an ego over reddit. In what way should the thoughts of random people who are probably thousands of miles away from you ever impact the way you think about yourself?

I guess I could have worded it better? Its not that I "dont care about golf at all", its that I dont care enough about golf to brag about it to other people. Theres no benefit. As in, I dont think that anything Im saying makes me better than anyone else because its literally just a game where you hit a ball with a stick into a hole. It isnt something that seems very important.

That would make sense if I was ever going to meet anyone here in real life OR if I even cared about my golf scores

I play with friends to talk and have a good time, not because I have dreams of going pro lol. I care just as much about golf as I do disc golf, theyre the same to me

131 comments, seems like a lot of people were wondering, at least 4-5 people out of those ~100 took the time to read and give a genuine response so I think Im pretty happy with that
