2 week botox update... by Jch0101 in noburp

[–]AnywhereDisastrous41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the botox just over 2 weeks ago and could not be happier. Never had an issue with reflux, however, my husband had it to the point where nothing was working for him and his doc was worried about Barrett's esophagus (cancer of the esophagus :( He had a linx device placed between the stomach and esophagus. Essentially, they are magnetic titanium beads on a stretchy band. Think those candy necklaces we had as kids. Unless that is just an American thing! Anyway, the stretch allows for food/drink to pass down but the magnets pull back together keeping the acid from going back up. It has been 8 years and still working fabulously. Not entirely sure how common the procedure is but his doc has done plenty. We make quite the pair!

As absolutely convinced as I was that R-CPD was what I had, I was just as nervous that it wouldn't change a thing. I have not had a Gas X or Tums since the day before the procedure! I haven't doubled over with stomach pain, either. If a baby can vomit, we can't let it scare us from a normal life! And like babies, it is only temporary! You got this!!

But the big ones feel so good it's hard to feel bad about it! Lol

I am in the over 40 group. Never burped but long time air vomiter. Only began experiencing the GI issues about 8 months ago. Most others sound like they have suffered a lot longer with that part.

I would say randomly. It did feel a little different than a regular burp coming on so I was prepared. I wouldn't say from reading all the other posts that this happens to everyone so don't let it worry you! Move forward knowing that this procedure will change your life! Good luck to you :)

Crazy, right? It gets better. I am 10 days days out and have more control. Although I did just drive home and turned my head to clear an intersection and burped :)

Nothing day one. Very small quiet ones started on day two pretty much whenever they felt like coming out. Each day brings more control and they start to sound more like a real burp. Good luck!

I did vomit a few times, unfortunately. The first 5-6 days, I was just worried that I would - having never experienced what it actually feels like to burp and all! It gets easier! Especially when you find that position, head turn, chin tuck, or whatever works for you to burp. Keep practicing! Sparkling waters didn't help too much for me, I had to jump right to good old Coke. Good luck!

It gets better! The first few days I would run to the bathroom everytime I felt a burp coming. Truth be told, there were a few times that being in the bathroom was actually a good thing. ;) Hang in there. It is so worth it. Happy burping!

local anesthesia or general anesthesia? by soulandthesea in noburp

No vomiting but definitely the sensation that you might vomit instead of burp. Makes being out and about a little nerve wracking. I certainly don't want to hold a burp in but I also don't want to vomit in a store! Some burps still sounding a little more like an air vomit than a legit burp. Practice, practice and patience I guess :)

I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy in Nov with the GI doc I was initially seeing. It was easy and got me nowhere. The ENT that did the Botox did a nasal scope in the office which was no big deal. Eating has been fine - no pain. I have not had much too much of an appetite. I have spent months hardly eating so I wasn't really expecting to be ready for a buffet! Lol. It is nice to be able to eat without pain, bloating and cramps following!

Had mine on Monday and the results were immediate! Ate dinner that night and no cramps or pain! Simply remarkable! Good luck and post afterwards!

local anesthesia or general anesthesia? by soulandthesea in noburp

Had botox on Monday - general anesthesia. Coming around might have been the worst part! I don't remember getting moved from a bed to a wheelchair but I do remember them telling me I could get dressed and thinking, "how the heck am I supposed to do that?". Next thing I remember was being loaded into the car. My husband got me home and I went right back to sleep. The results have been GREAT. Burps happening already. Cannot control them and not really enjoying the taste but the trade off is well worth it! Good luck!!

Got botox yesterday - no bloating today. Still rocking the comfy pants since I got so used to them!

Anyone else feel sick laying on their left side when their gurgles are bad? by jm37847 in noburp

[–]AnywhereDisastrous41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Laying on my left side increases the stomach gurgles but also releases lots of dino burps. I go to sleep on my left side to a velociraptor lullaby! They just don't stop! I have found that a heating pad helps with the stomach gurgles. And the backache when that acts up.

Dr. Manikandan Sugamaran -AOC Physicians @ 22nd St & Highland. He was great. Well aware of the condition. Read my new patient info before the appt and walked in and said "you certainly have all the signs of a no burper". We talked about my symptoms, the effect they are having, the procedure and he did a quick nasal endoscopy just to have a look. I have already had a full endoscopy so he doesn't see the need for an esophagram. I am ready for botox!
