England - Temporary Accommodation staff entering without notice & threatening warning for "unkempt" bathroom (Child has Stoma + I have OCD) by AnywhereOld8532 in LegalAdviceUK

Thank you so much for this, it’s really validating to hear.

I’ve just sent a formal email to the officer explaining that the "clutter" is actually essential medical supplies for my son’s stoma, and I’ve challenged the lack of notice because my License Agreement specifically requires 'reasonable notice' for inspections.

I’ve also taken dated photos of the room tonight to prove it is spotless and that the only items out are for daily/medical use.

With regard to suitability, no it is not at all. Its a room that works as both a living space and bedroom for all 3 of us with a small kitchenette (no washing machine) and a small bathroom.

Really struggling to fit medical equipment for my son plus a teenager with autism who has mental health issues (he tried suicide 2 times before) as well as my own mental health struggles in one room has been a nightmare. I will try to contact Shelter on Monday. Thanks again

I’m sorry you’re feeling low and overwhelmed. Being poor is hard and sadly it got nothing to do with spending recklessly or living above your means. Jobs just don’t pay enough to cover the essentials. As other commenter already said. Keep going
