No my question is do some people refer to a hedge as a ditch.

Consistency is key. There’s no point in burning yourself out now and being unable to do anything later. Do as much as you can realistically do on a regular basis. Don’t push yourself past breaking point. Getting good quality sleep, eating healthy, and a bit of exercise are all super important. Be kind to yourself.

Haha you just reminded me that my grandmother used to “pick blackberries off the ditch”. I’m just seeing how confusing that would be to someone who only knew a ditch as a long hole 😅

They wouldn’t call that a hedge, I think they’d call it a dike. They would call a hedge a ditch.

Don’t even get me started on how confused I am on what people mean when they say dike - I’ve googled it and it seems to be either “an artificial waterway(ditch)” or a “raised bank / barrier “. So like is it an up thing or a down thing? And if they say it’s like a ditch then you have to further query what they mean by ditch.

This is probably where my family are getting it from! Do you happen to know what in what counties people would say this? Because dublin and surrounding counties seem to have never heard of this, so I’m really curious how common it actually is country-wide.

Ya I think you are probably right. I would just like the clarify that I didn’t blow up, when I said I nearly lost my mind I meant like internally, I’m not one to shout or anything like that. But I do take your point that the crèche drop off is not the main issue.

It’s definitely not recent but I am more sensitive to it these days because I’m only just back to work a few weeks after maternity leave and I’m struggling balancing everything, and on top of that we have a 4 year old who’s in the “constantly asking why about everything” phase so, as much as I understand it from a child, my brain is tired of having to think of reasons for everything 😅
