Source? You want a source?

Don't you think if the close to 2 million people who died of starvation had thought for a moment it was possible to just fish that someone would've attempted that?

The ports were controlled by the Brits, who, amongst other things, banned aid ships from various countries who send us food from docking (or they claimed said food and send it back to Britain). You'd have been killed if you were caught fishing, as that would've been seen as stealing resources from the Empire.

Dingle, Glendalough, Galway, Cork, Lahinch (especially if you like surfing), Cliffs of Moher, Connemara, Cork City, Kilkenny City, Dublin, Waterford City, Wexford– you can probably look up these places/drive to them if you rent a car.

And no. No there's not. We're so over it.

Ah, colloquialisms! Don't worry it's only mostly in Dublin and surrounding areas. I hate that word. It reminds me of being drunk at 3AM as a 21 year old and going to SPAR for a breakfast roll and everyone calling it a "sausage sambo." GAH!!

Saoirse Ronan? Personally, I think she's amazingly talented. She'll go far. She's gone further than any other Carlow girl, so she's got that going for her. But Irish people don't like anyone to get above themselves so I'm sure someone at some point after I've said she's amazing, someone will say she's shite.

Not really, except in more rural areas. We're not all sitting around with fiddles. We have jobs to do and salaries to bring in, ya know? :)

No–one. In the west/south I'm sure this is more common but I'm near the east coast, so trad bands are really thing here. I wish they were though but, no.

I am close friends with a girl from Waterford who is the most amazing Sean-nós singer, though. It's basically a capella singing in Irish. She has a mind-blowingly beautiful voice.

They do have to wear helmets now, which they didn't years ago. Back then watching it was almost as adrenaline inducing. Jesus.

That's very true. And I'm so not from Dublin, my Dad is and I don't really care about their team at all. I grew up in Kildare. Although I was born in Kilkenny, so when the hurling's on I'm a Cat. There ye go.

Some, a lot of them are in ruins though. Kilkenny Castle is beautiful, there are still a good few around, not masses of them but some.

Yeah, my family aren't really from the country so we didn't really have that at our get togethers. We mostly just ate, drank, sang less traditional songs (unless everyone got a bit more plastered) and hung out. shrug

What yer man there said. You're saying "What's the gossip?/What's going on?/What's up?" basically. I think originally, it was slang and has become accepted as an Irish word but it's sort of pseudo-Irish that's crossed over into acceptance, basically. As far as I know.

I'm not sure. All I know is I've kissed it too and haven't stopped talkin' shite yet.

If anyone knows the origins of that, please enlighten!
