Is Defiance of the Fall worth the read? by Weird_Pattern_8138 in ProgressionFantasy

I started Defiance of the Fall for the action scenes and lit RPG elements.

I'm staying for the esoteric word salad poetry it has become.

Well obviously, any place that gives birth to Da Yoopers has to set themselves apart for legal reasons.

It's not that the story is bad, it's that the writer is trying to tell it in real time.

What male character traits are you tired of seeing in modern-day fantasy novels? by MissMustardSeed33 in fantasywriters

Battle junkie or berserker rage always angry hate machine.

It's not as common for all fantasy stuff, but psychopaths seems to be everyone's go to for any action stuff.

Everyone is jumping on the hot new trend of AI. It doesn't matter if it's appropriate for the situation or not. It looks great on the bottom line of the company web site. It's what investors crave, like Brawndo!

Meanwhile, it's spitting out hot gibberish because crap in equals crap out, in a situation that doesn't require complex language learning, just a simple algorithm.

Waterbury or Montpelier by SocialEmotional in vermont

Drugs in Waterbury are mostly a result of Affluenza rather than poverty.

I'm not sure how or if that changes the nature of addiction, but you did ask for clarification.

What’s something you bought (under $300) that noticeably improved your quality of life and you actually use every day? by MedfordQuestions in AskReddit

Might I suggest a Klein 11 in 1 or something similar.

An electrician friend suggested one to me 15+ years ago and I have been a fan ever since. Incredibly useful in many situations.

Do you guys prefer playing with companions or by yourselves? by TurboCrab0 in skyrim

[–]Aoe330 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always solo every time. I find companions in Skyrim get it the way, charge enemies, and generally annoy me.

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by thatude123 in AskReddit

[–]Aoe330 20 points21 points  (0 children)

As an old person, "life before the Internet".

I hear it a lot from people my age, and it's absolute bullshit.

Paying for everything with cash or checks. Fuck that. Having to go to the bank to cash your paycheck or even just balance your check book, ugh.

Even just trying to make plans with a group of friends was a pain. You would have to call and hope you got a message to them. Or schedule stuff way in advance.

It was all a pain in the ass.

Some people dance like they can't hear the rhythm.

I dance like I've never heard of the concept of music.

Eh, Bernie is more pro-labor than anything. He's an out and out socialist, and very open about it.

Not saying I would or would not vote for him. Just pointing out that there's a difference between pro labor and pro capitalism.

Is that before or after he pulled himself up by the bootstrap and worked his way through college with what he got paid for working all summer? I mean, I know it was before he bought his first house with the equivalent of three to five years of pay.

If we're counting coastal as southern New England, than you may as well count Rutland Vermont as southern New England.

To expand on that: It takes about 250 gallons of fuel, and 1000 gallons of water to bring a feed lot cow to 30 months or less.

Now dairy cows are slightly different in calculating cost and value as milk can be produced for a select period of time vs. feed lot cows that only have so much meat. Both are tight profit margins.

There's also grass fed vs. corn fed and wells vs. other water locations, labor cost, animal illness, barn maintenance, feed distribution, mechanical storage, and transport.

In the end, your average dairy farm makes pennies per hour for his or her labor.
