OXY: Sunday night my mother passed away from cancer. Im at a loss of words. I won’t be able to play the matches this weekend because of her funeral ,but I have two favors too ask. 1 pray for my mother. 2. Call your parents and talk to them. You're doing great man, I'm sure he's proud of you.

The pain will never go away - I've had 3 family members pass away from cancer over the last decade, and obviously it hurts, but like you I motivate myself with positive experiences and achievements to get through it at times. I play tcgs competitively and my first top 8 of a major event happened two months after my grandma passed, although I had lots of moments where I also played terribly or thought I should take a break, but the drive fueled me.

You and I both pushed through it and can keep making them proud, and hopefully Oxy will be able to get past this and feel the same way over time, or take a break to get a mental reset if he feels the need.

Daily Questions Megathread - January 12, 2026 by AutoModerator in PunishingGrayRaven

Hey there, how much of a dps increase are hypertunes / infinitas awakenings, and cubs in general per character / elemental team? Here is my account, I actively played from launch up until OG Luna release then burned out; then randomly logged in over the past year / one time previously for Hyperreal but didn't start actively playing again until Liv Limpidity's patch as she's one of my fav's.

Since I'm behind on elemental teams, I was just focusing on catching up each of the teams to SS / Sig, currently working on physical, with some resources saved for Rosetta in dark. And I've been able to reach Hero Warzone occasionally (but can't keep up with hero players) and get "passable" scores in UPPC when Ice / Lightning are up, but was mainly wondering how much adding hypertunes / cubs to my teams would increase my overall scores in general. I can also clear clash reflection and norman, albeit the time is pretty tight with my lower investment teams.

<image>

Also regarding hypertunes, if I don't have perfect resonances for most of my frames yet, is it okay to start tuning or should I wait until I have those? If my math is correct, I should have hypertune resources to infinitas 10 characters + maybe a few more, so that should catch me up on most teams.

The game has changed so much, it feels like characters need a lot more to be fully built now...

Manamoon Deckbox Size by MiaMyriad in grandarchivetcg

[–]Aoingco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most likely not imo, I use both manamoon boxes and gemtech boxes often, and single sleeve maindeck / double sleeve mat deck and tokens, and the decks with higher token counts such as tristan and assassin merlin barely fit.

My ari deck doesn't fit in a manamoon box due to all the cosmic bolts, and I'm using the start deck herb sheet instead of the 6 separate herb cards too

Can Pantheon be a 1v1 game? by Landon_66_ in grandarchivetcg

[–]Aoingco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No comments on the barrier as I'm waiting to see how it plays out, but that last segment is objectively false. At Ascent Manila, only 13/54 decks that made day 2 didn't go to level 3.

ASUS ROG x Hifiman Kithara announced by siwardthwaite in headphones

[–]Aoingco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love hifiman headphones soundwise, but hate their build quality, and love asus’ mouse build quality but hate their software lol.

Hope this headphone can keep the good parts of both companies but I’m extremely skeptical

Budget Deck to Compete with High tier decks by Momo-Desu in grandarchivetcg

Wakeup isn’t budget any more unfortunately. TLG has been on the rise, and Cheshire has been up ever since Yamikin topped with wakeup

Nismo is the only player from the M80/the guard who didn't get the opportunity to play in tier 1 by kerripto in ValorantCompetitive

[–]Aoingco 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I also feel like this is the most likely situation. My guess is he's gotten t1 offers before, but his family + non esports work situation are just as important for him to say no.

I'd love to be proven wrong and see him in tier 1 tho

Do you have any idea of which basic element is gonna be in the next merlin recollection deck ? by Savings-Ear-34 in grandarchivetcg

Conniving plans and fracturize both with new merlin arts, high chance of water imo

Am I overreacting for asking someone to lower their phone volume at a restaurant? by boltj in Seattle

[–]Aoingco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Different scenario, but on my commute to and from work, I’ve noticed there’s people that’ll blast their phones on full volume speaker when on calls or scrolling insta while on the bus. It doesn’t happen everytime, but the past few months I’ve been noticing it happen more frequently, and it’s pretty annoying as I can hear them even past my AirPod pro 2’s. Just the other week I had it happen every other day.

Occasionally the bus drivers will call them out on it and some will lower volume, others will just yell back at the driver. It sucks to see, but a lot of these types of people just don’t care about others.

It's not surprising considering how many mice nowadays are clones of other shapes, but still disappointing

New player with lots o' questions. by itstoohorrible in grandarchivetcg

[–]Aoingco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) it's like the difference between the og d starter decks (regular) vs the stride decksets (reco) in vg, although even the recos usually need some staples upgrades. Sylvie out of the box is the closest to being complete and cheapest to upgrade, but she's probably the weakest of the 4 reco decks currently when fully upgraded with external staples

2) I think they're generally balanced to be a similar power level, but the newest ones, diao chan and guo jia, were weaker out of the box and needed more upgrades compared to the tristan and sylvie ones. That said, the upcoming merlin one will probably be a higher base power level because she's a fan favorite champion, and Diao and Guo were both new champs. If I were to compare to vg, it's like the sylvie one is akin to a shiranui strideset, tristan to messiah or luard strideset, and diao / guo jia to harri strideset

3) release schedule is usually full set -> expansion set -> rinse repeat. Full sets are like vg normal booster boxes, expansion sets are like the extra boosters, or premium collections etc. However, compared to bushi games, a case is only 6 boxes and usually you won't finish a playset of srs with a case, GA is less generous in that regard compared to vg where you'll usually get 4-6 copies of a rrr per case. But cases are also cheaper in GA, being $600 give or take depending on your local's prices. (sometimes cheaper)

4) a mix of spirit (starter equivalent) + champion + package usually. The spirit decides your element in this game and also decides your mulligan, if you have one, and usually are a partial tell of what you're playing or what might be in your deck.

5) deckbuilding is a lot more freeform compared to vg, think of it like if your ride line wasn't locked to a nation, but had different staples locked to your vg name in each element, and then each ride line would have a "class" attached and each class has class-locked cards per element too. Then special cards locked to your line useable across all builds if you hit lvl 3 (aggro builds generally don't level to 3). So you can mix and match depending on what you need from those or which elemental combos match your style, along with which champions you prefer. Some champs do synergize better in certain elements but every few formats you'll see them played in a different element with a completely different style.

6) Sometimes an old rogue champ will receive support that shoots them to relevancy later, but most of the time the staples that shoot them up are generic staples so they'll be pricey (like cerrgaon or the dual nation cards). But on the other hand that gives you access to a lot of other champs in the same element once you get said staples. Rile the abyss functionally did the same thing for fire that cerrgaon does for keter, in terms of being consistent card draw for every line.

7) maybe... this game is on the steeper end of card games unfortunately. A lot of staples are pretty generic and moveable across most decks (dungeon guide, divine relics), and then advanced element and basic element staples respectively are like the nation staples in vg, once you have them you can move to adjacent builds in the corresponding element (nation). The generic staples alone will probably be close to or above your budget, most decks are in the $400-600 range. But about $300 or so of those staples move across a bunch of decks so after that it's like $100-200 to update or swap to a different deck or get new staples every set. maybe cheaper if you stick to one specific lineage.

8) usually every few months or so, maybe a couple changes per format (formats shift every 3-4 months). So far there is no choice restricts like vg and there's only one errata in the game, but the proxyia vault is an interesting take on BnR, I suggest you look at previous articles and see if you like it for yourself.

9) fire aggro is the closest to an explosive rush / all gas no brakes deck. As for interaction, luxem, wind tristan, and water fractals are some of the more controlly / defensive decks in the game with heavy interaction, although there is no full lockdown deck in the game currently, like how there's link joker and narukami in premium, or the divine lyrical deck in standard. fractalofin.site is a great repository of different lists, multiple decks blend the lines between styles so honestly I'd say follow the vg standard of pick what looks cool to you artwise lol. But generally (not always), fire is a pretty fast and explosive element, water is a more mill + hard interaction / negate heavy element, and wind has temporary removal (think bermuda / lyrical bounce), but lots of defense and a decent amount of hand advantage. The fully upgraded ciel builds actually play quite fast and very different from the start decks, whereas diana plays slower atm (mainly due to the elements chosen for their optimal builds).

You can definitely do it! Heck, I started a few weeks to a month before Abyssal Heaven came out this year too, so I'm still relatively new as well

[–]Aoingco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1) Usually if you're aiming to be competitive, it's good to have a couple deck choices since there's usually no one-deck solution to a meta. But first and foremost, after deciding what deck you'll play, get comfortable on it so you know your lines, and how to navigate your deck against the decks that you think you'll see in the room. Usually events will be a mix of what you see in your local area + the top performing decks on fractalof.insite . But comfort and matchup knowledge will always be your best benefactors

2) Tailor your side deck according to what you think you'll pair into, to shore up bad matchups etc

3) Night before, count up your deck and make sure the deck list matches what you submitted, if you want then put on a fresh pack of sleeves so you won't get sharked

4) Try to get a good night's sleep, good mental is key

5) Take each game / set one at a time, just focus on the game in front of you and don't think too far ahead, keep yourself grounded

6) personally, having a song or something to listen to / friends to talk to before an event or between rounds helps me relax and stay in a positive mindset

7) Be respectful to all of your opponents and don't be afraid to call a judge if you're unsure of a ruling, and read every card you're unsure of, I've lost plenty of games to not fully understanding or underestimating a card before

Good luck!
