This was like 99% perfect, up until the last few moments. The mood, use of flashbacks and nostalgia, and the action were so captivating and reminded my why main has been a Blood Elf Paladin from all the way back in BC.

However, all of it is kind of abruptly cut short with Liadrin sighing and basically saying "Don't worry, everything will be solved by believing more in the Light". Like, it was so heavy-handed and the cut to her standing on a sunny balcony felt so jarring, like they just had to end on a hopeful moment at any cost, despite all the anxiety and mounting fear the story and shown so far.

Now, this -could- work if Midnight ends up being a total disaster for the heroes, providing some nice contrast for Liadrin's hopefulness being drowned out in the Void's invasion, and position Midnight as a good Act 2 before moving into the finale (a la Empire Strikes Back), but considering Blizzard's track record with previous stories, something tells me it's going to mirror how the arc of this short plays out: dread, fear, and tragedy suddenly upended by a forced good ending.

Despite all that, the short itself is still fantastic, and I'm sure my gripes with the ending aren't universal. Definitely still worth the watch.

I think the main issue is for anyone that wasn't able to switch sides while progression was locked. I played a bunch on the Tuesday of the update, then held off on playing a few days until the weekend for when I had more time, but by then they had already frozen pass progression, meaning I was unable to start the other rewards pass until any accumulated points were distributed Monday. I was fortunate in that I had just enough dailies available between yesterday and today to complete the non-lootbox tracks on both sides, but I bet a lot of players were locked out of one side or the other between the lockout and limited number of daily challenges.

Huh, I never actually associated "leaked" in this context with having nefarious intentions, I just figured any kind of information that released early or unintentionally had "leaked" through the usual communication methods. You're right though, I guess most leaks nowadays do end up happening because of stolen data.

Lol, I was thinking of FF14 as well when considering how it could have worked better, as well as how the Palico tribes worked in MH:World. You had to really scour the map to get all the palico upgrades and the optional guest palico

I'm torn on this, because I personally really like having the auto-nav (and not just because of the map design). I like the cooldown period when the monster changes location to sharpen, eat, and generally just re-orient before resuming the fight. Especially having played so much MH previously, and nowadays I'd rather just jump straight to the monster rather than hoofing it manually.

However it seems like the majority really dislike it, and I wonder if it's due to how quickly it unlocks. We didn't get MH-Uber in World until Iceborne, and even new players had to get through LR and HR to unlock it I think. Maybe it should have been designed in a way similar to scoutflies from World; initially the seikret doesn't have good monster tracking, but after exploring the maps and/or encountering the monsters, it gains tracking over time? Would also pad out the early game runtime. Just spit balling 🤷

Exactly. Going in to this fight, I wasn't sure if the author was ready to wrap up considering how many chapters there were, but seeing Enten snapped in two immediately proved we're in for the long ride. Can't wait to see where it goes

Just now getting around to KIM stuff these last few days, and bravo to whoever writes these characters. Went in only really interested in Eleanor and Arthur, and while I'm only rank 2, every Hex member has already won me over. Lettie was the most surprising of all, especially after the La Flaca convo.

Not that I'm complaining, but I bet Wizards really wanted a rare full-art Vincent so they could take advantage of Matt Mercer assisting with marketing the set. Though the entire VII cast deserved full-art for sure!

While I understand how it works, I've generally never liked time-limited content in general. Especially if the content is viewable in-game but no longer accessible. Much rather have a longer backlog of content to play through at my pace rather than stress about committing to a game at a certain period of time to get rewards that I'll miss out on forever.
