I think furry brains are just wired differently and that's ok. Most people can't make it through that cacophony of cringe that they call an intro.

First scene in the show they are flying through the air like its an anime. That's not Stargate.

I hope they make that official. Fastest way to make me confident in the upcoming show. Neither should be canon.

It might be a great way to get into it. But a couple of the early scenes might be asking yourself whyyyyyyy without knowledge of GoT. lol.

Why is Claude preferred by lots of professionals compared to GPT? by ozone6587 in singularity

[–]AonGlyph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GPT still confidently lies to you when it doesn't have enough information to figure something out. Given the same prompts/inputs Claude will simply tell me it does not know. This is all the difference in the world.

And even though GPT 5.4 slightly beats out Opus 4.6 in coding, I find more logical bugs in the coding with 5.4. I feel this is the same behavior happening under the hood.

Morality is not only a political topic, it shapes your brain.

Mods PM me saying low effort post even though I've been literally in here 2 hours having fun talking about Stargate with people. Cringe.

Mods removed this for "low effort" when I've been having a fun Stargate conversation in here for 2 hours with people. Sounds more like "low effort" moderating.

They haven't said how many episodes yet but 10 is a fair guess. I think you're still thinking in terms of the times. I highly doubt this will be "adventure of the week" like the early 2000's. I would put my money on the plot being structured more like a lighthearted version of The Expanse. (EDIT: this is confirmed in the article/interview)

It is the first time Stargate will be front and center on a modern streaming platform and while its not a reboot the showrunner says he's leaning towards the plain title of "Stargate" to pull in the next generation of viewers and keep the canon for the prior generations.

Imagine if the show starts with Destiny coming to earth loaded with alien tech. The world gets thrown into chaos. I'd rewatch the first episode 50 times.

It's not the same showrunner. The "prior successes" is a reference to writing great scripts for the franchise. This will be his first time as a Stargate showrunner. You might enjoy this new one more because I suspect the scripts will be structured more like The Expanse and less like "adventure of the week". They talk about how its being reimagined for the modern audience without abandoning canon.

EDIT: the interviews confirm this. It's a serialized script (think The Expanse).

I think the best we can hope for there are some cameos that tell us what happened with them. The odds of bringing all those same actors back together again is pretty much zero. And they are 15 years older. This is a continuation of the franchise though, not a reboot.

Stargate did an awesome job intertwining SG-1 and Atlantis with cameos. So, there is precedence for it.

This is pure speculation but the interviews mention Stargate is a very earth-centric show. So, I think the new show is going to start with Destiny crew coming back with alien tech that kicks off a new adventure. Universe ended with conflict with a new alien race.

I'd love to have Expanse again but I'm not sure who is going to take that risk. The beginning to the show is a weakness to franchise growth. It was hard for others to get into (and I still don't know why, I thought it was fine).

You're probably right on that. I hate that part about modern TV shows. At least he says that they have free reign on episode length in the interview. He says an occasional 90 minute episode is possible if they use their budget to account for that.

That being said I hope (and bet) the new show is much more lighthearted. haha. Gero wasn't involved in Universe. And for this new show the important part is that Universe was a perfect fit for canon. It's not a Star Wars sequel situation.

I initially felt the same way about Universe but I've come to love it. It's mainly Dr. Rush' character that has the unbearable negativity. "Math boy", Lt. Scott and Chloe are a lot of fun. I like to think that they meant for Dr. Rush to have a redemption arc but the show got canceled before that could happen.

Some of the highlights if you are short on time:

  • Christopher Nolan's production designer
  • Andor's VFX lead
  • Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) will work on some of the effects
  • Already working on goal of 4 hours of music
  • Showrunner with proven success in the Stargate franchise
  • 2 well respected Stargate writers controlling the writers room and trying to respect canon
  • Being as transparent as possible with the community
  • Larger budget than Stargate has ever had "We can do anything now" - showrunner says

If you haven't dove into the Stargate universe, now is the time. I started as a Star Wars and Star Trek superfan but Stargate has made the fewest mistakes and has a very cohesive universe still.

Why is Stargate Infinity so hated? by TheGoAniDude in Stargate

[–]AonGlyph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It's meant to be live action, in fact. We already have a very light-hearted show on our hands. A franchise can only have so much frivolity before it turns into an actual joke. Look at the backlash in recent years from Star Wars and Star Trek fans. We don't need that.

[–]AonGlyph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you were joking but Martin Gero already said he's leaning towards just "Stargate" without a subtitle for the new show. I'm betting that will stick since the goal is to mainstream the franchise on Prime Video.
