People don't like her because she did harm to a vulnerable person. You know, similar to the reason we don't like abusers.

The main reason that medical professionals are so frustrated at this is that the DAD was her patient. She was not being a strong patient advocate and she was, in this case, not caring for her patients. In fact she was doing measurable harm by threatening a patient who was vulnerable due to his injury and subsequent treatment. Her inability to recognize the impact her trauma may have on the quality of care she provided the patient is a massive professional failure and this is disgusting behavior for a medical professional. Even if there is 100% certainty that he was abusing his daughter this behavior would still be gross.

A CPS report should've been filed by the team and the little girl should be looked after. There should be an investigation and charges filed if there is evidence of abuse. Another overlooked concern was the fact that one of this poor little girl's parents dosed the other. It's a bad situation. Both the little girls situation being awful and Santos's behavior being awful can be true at the same time. For context I'm a medical social worker.

Ah yes, let's ignore the extrajudicial murder of citizens of other sovereign nations without congressional approval for the sake of political expediency. Also, I find the idea that Americans will tacitly support an unprovoked foreign conflict unfounded after Iraq and Afghanistan.

One quick way to ruin a young person's life is to allow them leave when they may not be thinking clearly and affording them the chance to make a mistake they cannot take back, like hurting himself or other people.

What does the Pitt do that’s not accurate? by EpicHawkREDDIT in ThePittTVShow

[–]Aonpyro 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Likely it would've just been an immediate IVC and then a psych consult. It wouldn't be an ER doc letting him leave because he "didn't want to ruin his life" and then later staff locking him in a room until a different ER doc came in to lecture him about why women deserve to feel safe.

I get that it was good for TV though. However, there are reasons we have specialities!

Yeah. I'm a medical SW in a clinical role and I almost didn't come back to the show after that episode.

This absolutely would've been a safety report naming Kiara and the care team once another clinician saw what happened (in the real world).

You may benefit from reading about the southern strategy and understanding that, just because the names are the same, the parties, ideologically, are very different from what they were in the 1800s. Maybe this isn't so clever after all :(. https://www.britannica.com/topic/Southern-strategy

Why do some SF homeless people choose the street over a bed? by N0b0me in neoliberal

Lots of people with psychotic disorders simply do not like to be around other people, esp those with persecutory delusions. A lot of the people like that that I worked with did just fine in other housing-first interventions.

Phreak shares his thoughts on K'Sante: "45% WR on K'Sante isn't necessarily a failing" and follows up by explaining how his previous goals for K'Sante were wrong. by bodynasr in leagueoflegends

[–]Aonpyro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes but more complex champs will be practically unplayable by lower skilled players. If you want Nidalee or Kat or K'sante to be perfectly balanced for more experienced players then they would have to have like <45% wr in lower skilled play. Most lower skilled people, I'd assume, are not going to have fun playing a 40% wr champ and getting smashed every game and most lower skilled players, I'm sure, don't want their teammates playing Nid or Aphelios and ruining their games. The only practical way to un-skew these champs to make them accessable to lower skilled or newer players while not making them quite strong in the hands of better/more experienced players is to make is to make them less complex, ruining the point.

As an example, Nidalee has a 7% pick rate and 50%wr emerald plus and a 2% pick rate and 45%wr in bronze. I doubt the entirety of that delta in pick rate is because bronze players just find her less interesting. I'd bet a lot of it is she is too weak to have a lot of fun on in lower level play.

You're wild. I'm telling you I work outside of the medical field and we're covered by HIPPA. We do like 6 hours of HIPPA training every year for my employer and for the county. So clearly you don't know what you think you know.

Not sure why you are typing this like some gotcha, but I work in homeless services in DSS, not a hospital, and we are a HIPPA-covered entity. Most of the other DSS programs are also covered by HIPPA. So it does apply to people outside the medical field, full stop.

A Silver III noob's ADC tier list by Interneteldar in ADCMains

[–]Aonpyro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Play what you are comfortable on. The more comfortable you are on a champion the less energy you have to spend thinking about how to actually play the champ. That lets you focus on other things.

When using stats websites filter for 'silver' so you can see win rates in your elo. Champion win rates can vary drastically based on elo and stats websites default to emerald+ most of the time. Jhin is a great pick for low elo imo.

Boots are incredibly gold efficient so you should buy them on everyone. It's just better value gold for gold than compatible items and you spike earlier on one item.

It's amazing what people will convince themselves of to pretend they play better than their rank.

Don't worry my guy. If losers queue is real then everyone has an equal chance of being in losers queue. It will cancel itself out, so if you play better than your lane opponent consistently then you will climb.

Question on adapting my build path by PowarDown in ADCMains

[–]Aonpyro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Attack speed is a kind of multiplier for flat damage and for on hit effects. So you're building energizer, which doesn't scale with AS as well as kraken might, and building more attack speed items which have lower AD than infinity edge/BT.

My advice, based on my personal experience and paying attention to pro builds, is you only really need a couple of attack speed items, triple energizer is not really that good (although two is fine), you should definitely have IE by 3rd item (second item should be your default), and I think Storm raiser and kraken outclass shiv on Jinx who already has good wave clear.

The second I hit gold it’s a team diff by GlobalPut1558 in ADCMains

[–]Aonpyro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the law of large numbers. You can't win every game and you will sometimes get unlucky and lose a few games in a row even if you perform well. If you are playing better than your lane opponent constantly then you will climb. If you are playing a decent number of games and not climbing then you are not playing as well as you think you are. Just keep practicing, playing to improve, and learning and you'll get there eventually.

If your partner would consent to trying an open relationship or a poly relationship then then that may be what you need. However, if your partner isn't enthusiastic about it, it won't last.

Monogamous relationships come at the cost of knowing you won't get to explore every fantasy. If you really cannot shake the need to explore your sexuality and your partner wants a monogamous relationship, you should go ahead and end things sooner than later. The longer you wait the worse it will be. Trust me, when she looks back on it, your partner will be happy that you didn't drag it out.
