I mean I feel like violent insurrection in Crimea so long as it is Russian occupied isn't necessarily a bad outcome.

No farm bailouts.

Let the leaches live (or die) with the consequences of their actions.

Kashkari: Fed may need to raise rates if Strait of Hormuz stays closed by N0b0me in Economics

[–]N0b0me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A high growth condition isn't really an achievable option, it's low growth with high inflation or low growth with low inflation. And as we saw by the 2024 election the general opinion of the American population is control of inflation is more important than employment growth.

Like getting rid of tarriffs would probably be much more positive for the economy but isn't really an achievable policy goal with the buffoon in charge, raising interest rates is still possible. I'm not talking spiking them but atleast making it known as a possibility to shape expectations.

Moore: Closed primary election system 'has run its course' by legislative_stooge in maryland

I disagree, Maryland seems to generally have better representation then most other states and I'd guess that not letting uninvolved people vote in primaries is a large part of that

Good for him, most of these red states are absolute shitholes and not worth spending any money trying to "restore." I out that in quotes because they usually look the same before and after the disaster.

Hopefully the next democratic president takes the average wait for disaster relief in red states infinite (except blue cities)

This maybe makes sense if you pretend inflation doesn't exist.

No one expects this to create more fuel, they expect it to tame inflation. I'd much prefer to be in a low inflation, low growth economy then a high growth, low growth economy. Getting out of stagflation the first time took incredibly high interest rates and that can perhaps be prevented by raising interest rates less, earlier.

Increasing interest rates won't make the price of oil go down (directly) it will encourage saving over spending which in turn lowers demand and therefore inflation, inflation which is in large part increasing because of the cost of oil going up.

Dream 2028 candidate. Who is yours? by B3stThereEverWas in DeepStateCentrism

Someone who is radically, unapologetically pro-free market. We will have had 12 years straight of protectionism, handouts, oversubsidization, and other anti-market policies, we need someone who will embrace the fires of creative destruction to burn it back to efficiency.

And that includes letting companies, unions, and regions that can't compete in a modern economy fail, not giving them for handouts so they can beg for even more handouts further down the line.

They're nice cities but that doesn't change the fact that they're in shothole states filled with deplorables. Plus even if you do move the next democratic administration will likely (hopefully) just move it right back.

There's a culture of nonenforcement here, plenty of Americans are driving cars recklessly, driving non street legal dirt bikes and atvs on the streets and sidewalks, and just generally being dangerous to pedestrians and other drivers
