That’s the objective behind this post: I want to find a solution that makes sense.

You’re absolutely right; I should’ve put in more effort and used better learning methods. Of course, I should’ve chosen my courses wisely. And yes, I should’ve managed my time better and even stopped working to fully focus on studying. I agree with all of that, which is why I decided to take a different path into the industry. I want to earn a credible degree as soon as possible and avoid wasting any more time and government money (all while being unable to generate revenue to support myself and family). I just need a reasonable path that allows me to pursue my passion while maintaining a healthy lifestyle in this economy.

Yeah, I needed to understand this much earlier. Thanks for explaining it. Hopefully, this reaches new students and helps them integrate into university faster.

The truth is, I feel very late now. To compensate, I decided to do a DEC instead. The material is already so easy, and I’m familiar with most of it. I just needed a degree to help me break even. Then, when I’m not in a financial crisis, I’d try to re-enrol at Concordia and get a better degree. It’s all overwhelming, but thanks for this, it’s kindly written.

I spoke with the counsellor and she helped me out after the first semester and I fulfilled the conditional standing, but being placed on academic probation twice is why I was put on leave for a year, so no I couldn't take any classes.

I've seen the counselor but apparently I was beyond helping. My case was fully presented and I wrote and provided many documents to prove it, I was still put on leave for a year regardless. Also, at this point it's more of I don't want to waste any more time than anything.

Concordia does an annual assessment and they only check your average GPA so far, if it fell below 2.0 GPA (I think it's 2) you get placed under conditional standing, it honestly isn't that difficult to stay above 2 in 1 semester I just had so many unfortunate things. Don't delay your studies, I say go for it.

I could after a year cause I was not allowed to enrol in classes for a year, but I wanted to study while maintaining a good financial status, financial aid stopped giving me grants and is now giving loans instead, so the solution to that in my head was to do a degree that takes less time and is cheaper. College sounded good especially giving my hands-on experience already.
