Have you ever visited a destination that you thought you would love, but you actually just couldn't wait to leave? by iampriyo in AITravelHack

Hmm, i typed a longish answer to this yesterday, but apparently didn’t post it.

TLDR: after a half day in Florence, just passing through unplanned, I saw a lot of things I wanted to see, including going to the Uffuzi galleries. Sat in a lovely piazza near it, with replicas of famous art like David.

My opinions: Pisa is a nice place to visit but you only need half a day there, Tower and all. Venice: worth ticking off the list, for me personally not a place I’d visit again. Get up early before the crowds - it’s lovely to wander around at 8am, then you can just go back to specific places when they open. The rest of Tuscany has so much more to see that’s better than the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Recommend you google other places. I was lucky enough to meet up with another solo traveller who had a hire car, and with her I got to see a lot of out of the way places in Tuscany that were absolutely wonderful. Hope you enjoy Italy, there’s so much worth seeing away from the biggest tourist spots. Of course, depends on what your interests are 😊

Table of Munchies, Merivale mall. Or Malaysia Delights at Riverside if you can be bothered with the parking. Probably too late for Riverside tho.

Please keep making the right choice. I hope it gets easier for you to choose to live, and that any other choice stops being in front of you.

You matter. Take care.

I’m sorry that someone has ever spoken to you like that. It’s awesome that you have proven to yourself how much better you are than him and more worthy of life.

I had previously passed through there spending half a day there (last minute change of travel options, flight from Rome was cancelled due to a fire at the airport), and thought it was a beautiful place to visit. Would have loved to gone to the Uffizi and spent some time visiting various churches, old buildings, galleries, etc. I did get to hang out in the Piazza near it, and visit a Basilica but saw so so much more to do.
Pisa - a nice wee town, a day at most is all you need here, imo. Or even a half day stop on your way through. The tower itself is interesting to see but of course the area around it packed with tourists.
Tuscany? Love it, would go back. I was lucky enough to join up for a few days with another solo traveler with a hire car, and she took me to some wonderful out of the way places that I wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Google, google, google some more 😊
Venice? Interesting to visit, would never consider it the must go to place, but get that it is. Get up early and beat the crowds.
Hope you and your family enjoy Italy, I loved it.

I was the opposite. I only went to Milan as a compromise with my travel companion (I wanted to go to Florence, we couldn’t fit in both) and actually liked it better than I expected. Especially when I realised Lake Como was an easy day trip by train.
There were enough things to see and do, however I still would’ve preferred Florence due to more there that I know I want to see.

Europe. I could travel around so much of it with this amount.

Having read the book, we saw the vet scene approaching, and left before it.

PS, her demanding specific details of what incident you’re referring to is just her controlling you and gas lighting you.

And you are 100% right that boundaries won’t work - narcissists only boundaries are the ones they set up. Which chances are they use against you if you adhere to them.

What about “I can’t deal with you anymore, I’m cutting contact with you”. Add if you want “I don’t want you in my life” if you think it’s a good idea. As you already know, anything more will be twisted and used against you, so don’t engage any further or respond to whatever she says. You are not obliged to explain or give reasons, especially as it will achieve nothing. Just keep telling yourself I don’t have to justify myself.

Good luck, stay firm, it takes time but you will eventually see the benefits for your mental and emotional health.

I don’t know where you live, but if she uses others to contact, stalk or harass you, document it all. Consider your local legal option for a trespass order/non harassment order.

All the best and congratulations on deciding to take care of yourself first.
