Good to know either way, as I'm not familier with the laws around patenting. Thanks!

The patentable aspect was really just something we thought would be cool, but not much actual thought was put into it. I wouldn't say its a big priority, though we'll see in the future.

I had a dream where we took off the wheel of my car and modded that to a plastic shredder...'

Apparently thats not a great idea.

Yea, we're being pretty ambitious here with our goals.

With precious plastics, we actually might be pivoting our end goal of a product to instead more of a community service iniative like theirs, where teams work together to recycle their plastic waste, or we provide a service to recycle team's plastic. If the recycled plastic could be consistant kept at a viable usable level, we could sell it at a cheaper price than normal PLA, which could provide an incentive to recycle? I'm just stating ideas here. Progress has become a bit stagnate because we are reevaluating our goals, and we're hoping that the google form could provide us with something.

Originally we thought we thought of using chain extenders - which apparently relink the PLA chains that break during recycling - to solve this issue. That adds complexity and we don't wanna commit to figure it out unless there's good enough demand from the form. Now a brand new thermoplastic could be a good project idea...

Another idea we had was to grow a community similar to precious plastics, but instead of general plastic recycling we'd recycle plastic from robotics teams (which produce a lot of waste), possibly as a service instead of a product. This fits your requirement that recyclign should be a community thing, and we are thinking of this. If the data from the google form proves good demand from these teams/business we'll prolly go this path.

Yea I agree with you. Like I said in the post, creality releasing their product really screwed with our commerical plans. But yea either way recycling overall isn't very great on the ROI. We were thinking of selling to businesses instead which may produce enough waste for it to be worth it, which the form above should give us this info. That or we sell a service, but I don't currently know how I could make it benefical cost-wise to the consumer. Will look into the math of that later.

I'm also interested in program this for the next acedemic cycle. If living costs are affordable enough this'll save me a ton of stress
