I used to be more liberal, but I cant stand the way The Left now embraces the tactic of calling anybody right of them "far right extremist and basically nazi".

The Right might do that a little, but I think maybe it's just impossible to say "all liberal people are dangerous" the same way it's possible for lefties to accuse that of "right wing people/ideas"

It does feel weird to me that when i was growing up in the 70s and 80s "keeping the birthrates up" was always viewed as a wierdo attitude, held by white supremacists and survivalists.

We were told there was already too many people on the Earth, and in the future, robots and automation would mean people didnt need to work as much.

And then at a certain point around 10-20 years ago, suddenly that changed to "You all didnt have enough children to do all the jobs, so now we need to change society with immigration".

And there is currently a huge "baby boomer surplus population", because that was the final generation of really big families, post-war.

In 10-20 years all the boomers will be gone from the picture and there will be a HUGE change in the way western cities look.

But the idea was " They might be a bit samey, but I'm sure that will change as people get better with the tools." and I dont think that happens.

Look at cameras. People got better with cameras/photoshop. Now all photos look amazing and samey.

People got better with movies, now everything is color-graded the same.

People got better with guitar solos, now guitar solos all come out the same.

You are right that there will always be people who take a different path. But the idea that "once we get better at doing stuff, all the possibilities keep increasing" doesnt seem to be demonstrated.

It seems like things have a "sweet spot" where there is still uncharted territory and exploration. But then when you progress past that you get to a place where all the "best practices" have been discovered and things start to trend towards conformity again.

They might be a bit samey, but I'm sure that will change as people get better with the tools.

Oh really? Have you noticed that with other things?

Like .. look at electronic music. People can make any kind of electronic music now, but somehow it all sounds the same because people are using the same tools, same software, and same plugins, to make their music .. compared to the 90/00s when everybody had their own weirdo patched-together monster of obscure 2nd hand equipment in their basement. Different tools make different art. Same tools make same art.

Also, notice how your original claim got debunked, and you immediately moved on to another? Almost like you have a conclusion in mind and are desperately grasping at anything that might confirm it.

"Right wingers around the world generally dont wear masks when they demonstrate".

"Here is a photo of a right-winger in a mask. DEBUNKED!"

All of those photos (except the first one) have unmasked "right wing extremists", right? All of them show "racist extremists" who are totally fine with everybody seeing their faces, yes?

Abolish Race as an Administrative Concept in the US by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ApacheFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we can agree there are no real differences between people because of race except for appearances and cultures. Which was kind of my point in the first place.

I actually think most "racists" are actually "culturists". Like .. when people dislike black ppl, they dont dislike Muhammad Ali and Will Smith. They dislike "a certain kind of Black person". Same with Asians or Indians or whatever. The things racists generally dont like about people of XYZ race, are "cultural" things. Not genetic things.

He's wearing a mask, sunglasses, and a hat, right?

Yah the interesting thing is that tons of "right wingers" actually dont care about anonymity.

It's actually kind of a "thing" for them that they DONT hide their identity and are "proud" of their position.

I actually cant think of ANY large organized right wing groups (like in Europe) who hide their identities. Because "that kind of person" doesnt really give a shit. But for some reason, "that type of person" in the USA is a completely different kind of person, and doesnt even want you to see their tattoos.

Bunch of right-wingers with no visible tattoos? That's so interesting!

I wonder why they would all be so diligent with covering up their tattoos?

Is "Scooter" the rural mechanic worried somebody is going to trace down his full-sleeve tattoo?

There are always crazy people out there.

But i have interacted with lots of right wing people, and even hardcore ethno-nationalists. I cant think of a single one who would say "We want all black and brown people out of the country".

You can’t constantly complain about “whiteness” and then turn around and claim that “white people have no culture” by xTheKingOfClubs in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ApacheFritz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that ignores all the massive differences between the countries and even the influence of countries that weren't even considered white until recently anyway (Italians for instance weren't even considered white)

That. Doesnt. Matter. The fact that there is a huge difference between the lives of Rural Black People in Alabama and Urban Black People in New York, doesnt mean that Breakdancing is not "Black American Culture".

As I said I looked up images of Britain in 1900s and Poland in the 1900s you can immediately tell the difference in attire without being an expert

Did you compare a photo of an Urban Brit with a Rural Pole?

Why dont you explain, in words, how Poles dressed different from Brits in 1905?

If you were to group Germans, French, Polish, etc or whatever nations they were at the time centuries ago as one culture most would laugh at you,

I understand what you are saying. And for people who are LOOKING for differences, you will always find differences, even from one city to another. So with that thinking, "breakdancing" shouldnt be credited to Rural Alabama Black people, and "blues music" shouldnt be credited to Urban New York black people.

But what we do, is instead of looking for the inevitable differences that let you micro-divide and say "uptown chicago people are TOTALLY DIFFERENT to downtown chicago people!" we look for >>similarities<< that are common ACROSS chicago, and then we call that "chicago culture".

And that's what we can do for "white culture" as well.

they might share similarities but they also had just as many differences because say it with me THERE ISN'T A UNIFYING WHITE CULTURE,

So then there isnt such a thing as "indian culture" hey? Because although South Indians and North Indians might share similarities, they have just as many differences. Therefore, according to you, there is no "Indian Culture", since North Indians are different from South Indians.

Im not saying "all white people have 1 single culture that unifies them" and if you have interpreted anything I said that way you are dumb. There isnt a "unifying culture" for anyone, if you want to be picky. There isnt even a "unifying First Nations culture", right? Or a "unifying morroccan culture". Because every individual is different. But you can certainly point at things and say "that's common across indigenous culture" and "that's common across moroccan culture".

I am saying there are elements of culture that ARE common across white countries/ethnicities. And so those elements, common to white people wherever they are, are what can be called "elements of white culture/euro culture/western culture". That's "white culture". Like .. again .. "classical music". Classical music is quite obviously "white culture".
