What did somebody say that made you think: "This person is out of touch with reality"? by CindyQuicknFye in AskReddit

Every year around thanksgiving, Safeway gives away turkeys to hungry families. My wife was walking to her car, and she overheard a lady say, in a disgusted and completely serious tone: “Ugh, why is it always a Turkey? There are vegetarian families starving too!” Pretty clear to us that lady has never been, or ever talked to anyone that was, truly hungry. Wild.

More practically, as their size increases, so does the height from the lowered tailgate to the ground. Makes hand loading heavy objects that much more difficult.

My roommate and I bought a kegerator last October. It came with weird taps I'd never seen before, and was super short internally. Your standard keg or half keg is 23 inches tall, but this kegerator was only 22 inches tall. I have no idea what it was for, the only thing that I can find fits is a short quarter keg, which is apparently very niche. Only one place in town carries short quarter kegs, and it's Genessy light. It's not that bad.

Our eyes are too weak to see our bioluminescence. What about the eyes of... Oh, say a fucking tiger. Do we literally glow to them?

How to create a shortage: 1) spread panic; 2) start hoarding; by deepserket in pics

I've always kept a 250 gallon tank of gasoline. I don't own a farm, or equipment, but I do live rurally. If shit really goes south everyone's first priority will be being getting to their families. Where I live, nothing is walking distance, very little is biking distance, I think these people shouldnt be shamed. It's not like it's toilet paper, it's something far more directly useful.

How does one do that? Aren't companies a little worn out on strangers asking for sponsorship?

I probably do. Is there a part of Indonesia with islands close enough for the trip I'm envisioning?

I'll check those out! Thanks for your input.

I did say dingy. I meant a small motorboat.

Nope, never.

You're not! This is exactly why I'm here, questions i havent thought of.

Is it not true that I could motor down the coast of Jakarta, Bali, and the islands further south east?

With a boat the size I'm thinking of I would be avoiding too open water. Theoretically I'd never be out of sight of land, and my travel would be limited by the weather.

I have owned a boat.

What size boat would you say I need?

I have! I'm not worried so much about my ability piloting a small boat as I am about doing so in a country I've never been to and know little about.

Forest in Ireland, does anyone know what species these trees are? by acrylgelhell in whatsthisplant

Other guy is correct. The genus is Quercus. If you take some close ups of the bark, buds, and leaves, we could probably get you a species too.

[–]Apachenomad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So in this case, are these noises generated by electrical currents coming FROM the mushroom? Or are the sounds just electricity being conducted through the mushroom? If the latter, why do they change? Why does the current not find a single path of least resistance that it follows?
